I started this job 20 years ago as a production worker and have since moved up to management. Over the years I have learned many skills including adjusting and working at the different wood machines in the mill. I've had to figure out many different orders and ensure the product(s) met each companies expectations. I try very hard to keep a positive attitude as I manage the people who work under me. My job now is to oversee the incoming jobs and be sure they get accomplished in a timely and efficient manner. I run the safety meetings and train any new staff. If falling behind I will still jump on and run any machine in the shop. I know how to get counts on material by weight to figure out how many of each can be packed and shipped to the ordering company. Being efficient, flexible, and understanding is key. Not only do I deal with the boss, the brokers, and the men and woman who work under me, but I also help the public who come in to buy scrap wood and shavings. Education
