DETAIL Inchem Corp. – Charlotte, NC

Mar 2014 – Present Position: Operations Manager

Manages production, maintenance, QC, warehouse and shipping operations at the Inchem Charlotte Site. Responsibilities include production scheduling, inventory control, operation personnel supervision and production reporting. Writes and approves ISO certified batch sheets and production work instructions. Conducts basic quality assurance testing and prepares COA for customers. Orders and receives maintenance, production and office equipment in company inventory control systems. Oversees plant security system, fire suppression system and general plant maintenance. Responsibilities also involve site regulatory (including site contact for wastewater, fire department, air compliance inspections) and ISO compliance. Supervises hazardous material shipments and checks them for accuracy. Conducts weekly safety meetings and completes pre-activity planning sessions for activities not covered by work instructions or batch sheets. Arranges and organizes plant wastewater testing and monitoring.

Direct production staff in daily production activities. Responsibilities include production scheduling, raw material ordering and inventory management. Implement management of change when required for safety or process improvement. Oversee project management and construction for process changes and upgrades. Lean champion for the Rock Hill site and facilitates lean strategies including Kaizen improvement teams, 5S implementation, SPC charting and cost savings/waste reduction ideas. Produces changes to work instructions and standard operating procedures and directs training for the updated procedures. Develop operating methods and improvements for new products such as the new MTZ product. Manage personnel activities including adherence to safety procedures and human resource policies. Assumed Plant Manager Responsibility when the Plant Manager was away from the Plant.

Jan. 2001 – Feb. 2007 Chemtrade Logistics – Leeds SC (formerly Clariant Corp.)

Positions: Zinc Production Manager (2004-2007) and

Shift Superintendent (2001-2004)

Controls plant operations and employee activities to ensure achievement of budgeted goals. Administers personnel policies as well as ISO 9001-2000 procedures dedicated to the effective operation of the Zinc Plant that manufactures liquid sodium hydrosulfite in a batch operation. Communicate changes and train operators on updated work instructions. Ensure that plant safety procedures are followed in the Zinc Plant. Authorize and approve maintenance work on plant equipment. Coordinates and plans project work to improve plant operations including shutdown activities. Authorizes purchase order for equipment and supplies for the plant. Initiates investigations related to spills, releases and employee injuries. Helped to increase the yields by more than 5% since March 2004 and improved product quality. Accomplished the increased yields by working with the production operators and knowledge of the process. Incremental improvements have increased the yields and quality over time. Other duties include overseeing the waste treatment and process water plant personnel and processes.

Mar.1995 – Jan. 2001 Clariant Corporation – Mt. Holly, North Carolina

Position: Manufacturing Manager

Responsibilities included scheduling, raw material ordering and troubleshooting. Integral in new product introduction process, created batch sheets, labels and safety procedures. Supervised warehouse and shipping activities including shipments of hazardous materials. Also, maintained monthly inventory counts. Managed safety, health and environmental activities including compliance with government regulations, safety as it related to the workplace and training. Completed and distributed reporting requirements on the local, state and federal level. Directed maintenance projects, both contracted staff and internal personnel. Managed two supervisors and four production and warehouse personnel.

Feb. 1989 – Mar 1995 Carpenter Chemical Co. – Elkhart, Indiana

(Carpenter is a Non-Union Polyurethane Flexible Foam Producer)

Position: Pourline Manager

Responsible for technical support and process operation related to the daily production of foam including scheduling and in-process changes. Scheduled daily pours to reduce changeovers/waste.

Implement formulation changes to achieve production yields and to meet customer specifications.

Established Pourline Continuous Improvement Team that conducted Kaizen events related to the production of the polyurethane flexible foam. Responsible directing the Production Supervisor and six hourly employees.

Organized maintenance work and completed with production staff when possible.

Reduced unplanned machine downtime by nearly 50% and saved an estimated $13,000 in the last half of 1992 by implementing ideas that originated from the Kaizen process.

The Elkhart Carpenter facility was rated #1 in the company group (including 6 other sites) for efficiency and productivity (1994).
