Selected Accomplishments

Started up & rapidly grew a well-reviewed French restaurant. Launched a 180-seat fine dining restaurant, La Toque in Leesburg VA. Developed a uniquely innovative menu, including such novel items as edible flowers and other decoration. Took over the front of the house after 6 months to oversee the whole restaurant. Quickly established a strong following and a reputation for fresh food and fresh ideas with daily specials and totally revamped menus twice each year. Won rave reviews in a feature article in Food and Wine Magazine. Steadily increased business. Continuously improved processes and suppliers to keep food and labor costs down in an industry known for razor-thin margins.

Nearly doubled profits in a turnaround. Lasership needed to improve margins in its Washington, DC region. Reengineered processes and strengthened training to boost efficiency and cut waste. Negotiated aggressive new vendor contracts. Increased profits 93% in only seven months, adding $1.2M to the bottom line.

Drove a strategic expansion, growing revenues $3M. Lasership wanted to expand its footprint into new markets. Working closely with the CEO, identified target markets. Directed all phases of launching new locations. Opened three new sites first year. Took regional revenues to $6.5M in only 24 months while increasing profits $250K.

Turned red ink to black. Lasership’s McLean, VA site operated at a loss. Taking over the site, engineered process, systems and training improvements; strengthened accountability. Renegotiated contracts on supplies, uniforms and radio leases. Trimmed headcount. Went from $300K in losses to $360K in annualized profits in only five months.

Grew revenues 24%. Lasership needed to boost sales in McLean, VA. Developed an aggressive plan to boost sales from existing accounts and enlist new clients. Instituted new lead generation, prospecting and follow up. Strengthened relationship management. Without adding any staff, increased accounts 25% and boosted sales by $660K to $3.46M.

Turnaround from laggard to leader. Lasership’s Richmond, VA site fell short of goals and ranked last in its region. Taking over the site, led extensive coaching and mentoring of sales and operations teams while setting challenging objectives. Boosted sales 41.6% to $850K, beating targets. Elevated the location to #1 in its region first year.

Career History

Regional General Manager, 2001-2016. Promoted to lead a strategic expansion and process improvement initiative. Directed all operations, including sales, customer services, fleet management, couriers, facilities and logistics for five locations. Managed P&L on revenues to $14M and staff to 136. Part of a reorganization in 2016.

General Manager, 1999-2001. Promoted to manage the McLean, VA operation. Led a turnaround, improving performance across a wide range of KPIs while going from red ink to black. Managed P&L on revenues to $3.8M and staff to 12.

General Manager, 1996-1999. Promoted to turn around the Richmond, VA operation. Generated strong revenue and profit growth. Previously at Lasership, Dispatcher.
