WORK EXPERIENCE:

LeChat Products (CA, USA): [Jan 2017 – Present]

Manufacturing engineer, responsible for the design of mechanical and electromechanical components of customized machines in collaboration with vendors using Solidworks.

Created BOMs and assembled parts drafts with GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.

Reviewed engineering design files for technical issues that may arise at contract manufacturers

Identified the root cause of manufacturing issues and developed CAPA to improve product quality.

Conducted feasibility studies and estimated costs of new machines to be installed in our manufacturing facility.

Analyzed work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.

Implemented Lean Six Sigma manufacturing concepts such as 8D,5S, statistical process control etc. which increased production from approx.200,000 units to approx.225,000 units per day.

ZECK GmbH (Germany, Thailand): [June 2013 – August 2014]

Worked as a design engineer at the Asian manufacturing facility of the German company Zeck GmbH which specializes in the design and manufacture of machines and tools for the construction of electric transmission lines.

Worked closely with the chief engineer in the design and development and getting PPAP approval of the company’s unique ‘line-car’ used for transporting workers along overhead power transmission lines and various other products of the company.

Created parts and assembly drawings with the use of CAD software (Solidworks, Pro/E). Organized and maintained CAD files, Created accurate Bill Of Materials (BOM’s).Reviewed and released final engineering drawings to manufacturing. Documented and communicated issues effecting cost, timing and quality.

Participated in cross functional Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) meetings. Assisted with the development and creation of the Functional Specification documents that detail the functionality and set up of the equipment being designed.

Worked on testing the equipment under designated conditions to ensure operational performance met design specifications. Made recommendations to modify design to obtain specified functional and operational performance.

Assisted with the commission of the equipment required to meet the customer’s expectations as detailed in the approved functional specification, and work with the Chief engineer and other Service Personnel on site to secure the customer’s acceptance.

CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:

CATIA V5 – Certified by EDS technologies.(Certified Dassault systems center).

Solidworks and Creo – Certified by CADD Center.

Lean Six Sigma – Certification Under Process

German Language – A1 level proficient.

INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE:

Shakti automotive components: [May 2015 – August 2015]

Lean Six Sigma Project:

Manufacturing engineer intern, analyzed various methods in improving existing DMAIC procedure to gain maximum process efficiency and throughput.

Performed root causes analysis and Pareto analysis to identify the problems.

Proposed solutions in the form of three Kaizen events.

Used Statistical analysis tool (FMEA, SPC, DOE), to analyze anomalies in data mapping to process.

Performed value stream mapping to identify key issues in the process and evaluated the cycle time.

Implemented 5s methodology to improve the shop floor layout and removed non-value added work. Used Andon between machines to encourage the operator to follow Standardized work and report inefficiencies in the process also used visual controls to study the performance characteristics.

Implemented Cellular manufacturing for continuous flow that resulted in throughput increase.

RESEARCH PROJECTS:

FORMULA STUDENT (FSAE UK):

Formula Student is a student engineering competition held annually in the UK. Student teams from around the world design, build, test, and race a small-scale formula 1 style racing car.

Designed and Fabricated the Chassis of the car along with team members for optimum ride comfort, safety and stability. Modelled the chassis using Solidworks, CATIA V5.

Performed torsional stiffness analysis, front impact and side impact analysis (Crash analysis) using Altair Hypermesh and RADIOSS.

ELECTRIC VEHICLE RAPID CHARGING SYSTEM:

Established ‘Systems Engineering Management Plan’ (SEMP) for electric vehicle rapid recharging system, to manage & monitor project development.

Employed commonly used systems engineering tools and practices such as Pareto analysis, fault tree analysis, 8-D, Fish bone analysis, Cause and effect analysis, FMEA, Root cause analysis etc.

Designed system architecture based on system requirements.

Developed system design verification & report(DVP&R) to ensure the system met requirements.

ROOF CRUSH RESISTANCE OF A CAR DURING ROLLOVER ACCIDENTS:

Positioned a Sedan car in LS-Prepost by constraining the bottom rails and providing a static load to the forward edge of Vehicle’s roof using a rigid unyielding rectangular block 762mm to 1892mm according to FMVSS-216 standard. Used LS-Dyna to run the Simulation.

Determined the roof crush impact (Crash worthiness) and did “what if” Analysis to reduce the impact due to crushing of the roof into the passenger compartment by doing Structural reinforcement to increase the stiffness of Roof.

FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS(FEA) OF A CANTILEVER BEAM SUBJECTED TO SHEAR LOAD AT FREE END:

Performed a convergence study in terms of maximum deflection and maximum principle stresses to analyze the plane-strain model of a cantilever beam using ANSYS.

Solved and simulated the same problem using MATLAB wherein the stiffness matrix was computed using 2 by 2 Gauss quadrature method.

DESIGN AND SIMULATION OF A 5-CYLINDER RADIAL ENGINE:

Designed and assembled parts of a five-cylinder radial engine using Solidworks, Creo and CATIA V5.

Created BOMs and assembled parts drafts with GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5 of the engine in Solidworks, Creo and CATIA V5.

Simulated the engine using Solidworks, NX and CATIA V5.
