Jan-2018 to Present: Petroleum/ Reservoir Engineering with Halliburton Landmark

I provide technical support for Reservoir simulation (Nexus in India) and setting up reservoir management workflow with Petroleum Engineering suites of Halliburton Landmark (DS Reservoir Management & Production Engineering in MENA/AP region).

Jun-2017 to Dec-2017: Consultant (Senior Reservoir Engineer) with Vega Petroleum

I looked after assets of two sister concerns Vega Petroleum and Pacific Oil. Vega has producing field of Ras El Ush (REU) and a discovered block of East Zebel El Zeit (EGZ). Pacific has a discovered block SE-REU. Estimation of reserve, evaluating farm-in and farm-out opportunity was part of my profile. Successfully completed farming out of SE-REU to a new partner. REU has wells producing on gas lift while EGZ is tight reservoir and is being developed with hydro fractured wells. I looked after production and reservoir management, future field development plan and operations planning.

Jul-2016 to May-2017: Deputy General Manager (Reservoir) with Essar E&P

I looked after management of a major unconventional reservoir (dual porosity), with ~330+ wells. Responsibilities include well performance monitoring, candidate selection for stimulation/ workover, plan and coordinate well intervention, propose drilling location and reservoir modeling. All wells were hydraulically fractured and produced with PCP.

Apr-2012 to May-2016: Senior Reservoir Engineer in ADCO

In NEB asset of ADCO (Abu Dhabi), I looked after reservoir development & management of five reservoirs (Thamama zone A, C, F, G and Habshan) of Dabbiya field ~30 wells. These complex carbonate reservoirs consists of volatile oil to critical fluids; STOIIP 100-500 MMSTB each. The field is partially onshore and partially offshore (natural and man-made islands). I worked as Senior reservoir engineer (management) during 2012-14 and as Senior reservoir engineer (Simulation & studies) during 2014-2016.

My primary responsibilities as Reservoir Engineer (Management) were:

Reservoir and production management of existing wells in all five reservoirs.

Well pressure transient analysis: Pressure build up, Pressure Fall off

Reservoir monitoring, data analysis & integration.

Plan and follow up operations for pressure, fluid and log data collection.

Monitor Waterflood behavior and develop understanding for future injection.

Plan, discuss and follow up on downhole pressure points and PVT sampling

Work with reservoir simulation engineer to provide Phase-III drilling location.

Align PLT interpretation and understanding with cased hole saturation interpretation

Align the interpretation of openhole logs of new wells and saturation interpretation of cased hole logs of existing wells with field understanding.

Prepare annual reservoir performance report (ARPR) for annual reporting.

Support smart field implementation. Well modeling, analysis and optimization. Well production test validation. Gas Lift Optimization and Gas lift design.

Decide on well stimulation requirements.

Coaching and Mentoring of UAE nationals on reservoir management.

My primary responsibilities as Reservoir Engineer (Simulation) were:

Reservoir Simulation: History matching and future prediction for Thamama zone F&G reservoirs.

Run prediction scenarios for waterflood, WAG EOR for further optimization of development plan and shareholders decision making.

Uncertainty analysis for recovery from these reservoirs and get shareholders’ approval on reserve.

Identify number of wells and future well locations based on model and pre-drilling location optimization with operation geologist. [Refer: Publication]

Make the drilling prognosis for future well and follow them up during drilling.

Analysis of MICP data of zone F&G and correlate with SCAL data of zone B to select representative capillary pressure and relative permeability curve.

PVT studies of all these reservoirs and EOS modeling: The reservoirs fluids are volatile oil, which needs very close characterization.

Define technical scope of upcoming SCAL project and follow up.

Support the business plan with reservoir simulation results for zone G and Habshan.

Sep-2006 to Apr-2012: As a Reservoir Engineer and Petroleum Engineer in Consulting Services of Schlumberger (DCS, Schlumberger)

Schlumberger Consulting Services provides technical consulting to E&P companies. I primarily worked on field development planning, reservoir modeling, production modeling, and enhancement projects. During my stay, I worked in variety of profiles and projects, listed chronologically:

Provide technical support to business opportunity of well services:

Provide technical support to evaluate and propose hydraulic fracturing in one of the green field (offshore gas field): Sector reservoir modelling to run simulation cases for well placement & hydraulic fracturing. Optimize fracture stages for number of stages and fracture length.

Technical analysis for production data evaluation and candidate selection for acid stimulation for Mumbai high field (screen ~900+ wells).

Cased hole log analysis: A new domain for me after being involved in field level study all along. The responsibility included:

Cased hole saturation log evaluation

Production enhancement project for 8 gas fields of PETROBANGLA (Bangladesh) ~100+ wells. The project was about classical reservoir engineering and petroleum technology e.g. material balance, volumetric, geology, petrophysics, completion-production analysis and operational aspects for production augmentation opportunities in all the producing gas fields of Bangladesh national companies (8 fields in total).

Developed a workflow to improve upon the accuracy of Carbon-Oxygen cased hole log interpretation where ELAN interpretation is not available. [Refer: Publication]

Steady state pipeline design project for development of Qusahwira field of ADCO (UAE). Project supports the construction team (NPCC, UAE) to establish an optimum pipeline size.

Dynamic modeling of KG basin field of GSPC. Develop a FDP (field development plan) to present to the higher management of GSPC for approval.

Field level rock-typing for property population in a 3D static model for DD West area of KG basin field (India) for GSPC. The RQI, clay content, poro-perm, core data concepts used to classify the rock types.

Monte Carlo simulation of prospects in Jodhpur-Baghewala area (India) for Oil India.

Techno-economics of these heavy-oil prospects.

Evaluate completion strategy using reservoir simulation for KG Basin field (India) of GSPC: Comparison of fracture and multilaterals completion by numerical modeling to decide the optimum completion for tight gas heterogeneous reservoir.

Support ONGC for design optimization of slotted liner completions in Mumbai High field. [Refer: Publication]

Reservoir Simulation of a green gas field (India) in KG Basin of GSPC (Black Oil Model). Suggest suitable well location for the highly heterogeneous reservoir.

Estimate primary recovery from the dynamic simulation.

Transient pressure test analysis of gas wells of KG Basin field (India) of GSPC.

Gas lift optimization of onshore GGS networks in Gandhar field (India) of ONGC.

As a core member of a Project that deals with study of a mature oil field (Jorajan and Jaipur formation) to identify problems associated with non-producing wells and to suggest remedies to bring them back in production if possible – field had ~100+ wells. A multidisciplinary project which deals with:

Reserve estimate by volumetric and Material Balance analysis.

Reservoir modeling and history match of 3 fault blocks of this faulted brown field.

Identification of problem and possible workover solution.

Techno-economics of the re-development opportunities.

As a core member of Integrated Asset Modeling (IAM) group. The project was integrating production and reservoir modeling of the largest offshore oil field in India – 900+Wells (Received Bronze Medal in Schlumberger worldwide). The Highlights of the project were:

Coupling production model with reservoir model to predict the future performance under realistic control.

Well and network modeling of a huge offshore production system.

Identification of well problem and bottleneck into network system.

Suggest best tubing size and artificial lift system for well and optimization.

May-2005 to Sep-2006: As a Petroleum Engineer in Niko Resources Ltd.

Niko Resources is a Canadian E&P company with producing assets in India and Middle East. Being a part of asset management team in indian head office, the job profile was multi-disciplinary. There were 16 gas bearing reservoir with total of 3 TCF reserve.
