RESEARCH ASSISTANT RIT, ROCHESTER, NY December 2016 – July 2017
• Computer Aided Design in SolidWorks of novel compressive and tensile fixture for alkali-activated materials to evaluate failure modes
• Simulation of fixture operation, Rapid prototyping of fixtures using Fused Filament extrusion printer and preliminary evaluation and Engineering changes if required. Fabrication and testing of final prototypes PRODUCT ENGINEER CO-OP MPI, INC., POUGHKEEPSIE, NY February 2015 – December 2015
• Performed mechanical component design, drafting and prototyping, engineering analysis and testing for the quality purpose of wax injection system machines used in investment casting process. Responsible for product from prototype to final roll out to the customer
• Developed and executed ECR’s, maintained and documented machine manuals and checklists. Created electric, hydraulic and pneumatic
schematic diagrams. Used ERP software for releasing BOM and maintaining inventory.
• Interfaced with external customers and successfully communicated with other departments.
• Implemented GD&T, conducted tolerance analysis and stackups, drafting and dimensioning as per ANSI Y14.5/ Y14.5M
• Carried out DFMEA, APQP, DVP&R, continuous improvement, Root cause analysis, feasibility analysis, Statics and strength of materials calculation and validated using FEA simulations. Extensively involved in equation solving, data analysis and presentation graphics ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Design of a 3-Stage Reduction Unit Gear Box with Reduction ratio 125:1 August 2014-December 2014
• Designed a compound 3-stage reduction unit gear box, consisting of bevel and spur gears. Selecting the suitable material, shafts were designed taking in consideration the multi-axial loads. On each reference planes, Shear force and bending moment diagrams were simulated for forces. Based on design parameters, respective bearings were selected to provide support and nullify any unwanted axial thrusts Design and simulation of a four-wheel vehicle suspension system February 2016-May 2016
• Derived a mathematical model for suspension system of a four-wheeler passenger car with seven degrees of freedom. Analyzed the system for pitch, roll and bounce and carried out simulation using SIMULINK to study its behavior. Relationships between parameters like spring stiffness, damping coefficient and sprung mass was studied Study of cooling system in modified fused filament extrusion process February 2016-May 2016
• Designed the cooling block of MakerBot 3d (Fused Filament Extrusion) printer with fan and heat sink and modified it for water cooling system in Solid works. Performed thermal simulation in SolidWorks for both cooling block and studied the melting zone of the ABS material inside the filament guide for various simulation. The comparison showed water cooling system to be more efficient than fan and heat sink cooling system. Design of an E-Nable hand in SolidWorks August 2014-December 2014
• Designed a prosthetic hand in SolidWorks and 3-D printed it, along with the mold design of its components. Model parameters can be varied as per growing hands and can be re-printed. Mastercam file for machining the mold of a component was designed. 3D printed the prosthetic hand as a cost-effective alternative for commercial prosthetics Optimizing of Hockey-stick Cross-Section February 2014-May 2014
• Utilized equations for bending stress, strain energy, shear stress, moment of inertia for function and constraints, considering hockey stick as fixed beam. Using a suitable optimization algorithm, Matlab code was designed and analyzed. A GUI interface was created so that the player only needs to enter the requirements and the cross-section dimensions of Hockey stick were displayed. Heat Transfer in Helical Coil using Non-Newtonian fluid for Laminar Flow January 2012-May2012
• The project compares the heat transfer rate and heat transfer coefficients for Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids flowing through helical coils of different diameters. It was concluded that the overall heat transfer coefficient is directly proportional to the mass flow rate and inversely proportional to the helix diameter of the coil. Relocation of manufacturing plant from Rochester to China Case study June 2016-Aug 2016
• Using the project management tools proposed and successfully executed the project. Described the project in terms of project charter, organizational chart, scope, WBS, budget, schedule, risk plan, communication plan and quality management plan.
