Joined a team of eight who responsibilities included creating their online renewal and endorsement applications; these applications allowed existing customers to either renew current auto insurance or to make changes to their existing insurance policies. Since Direct Insurance provide nationwide services, the applications contained state specific business logic, data access and user interface modules which were a part of my associate duties. The original development and deployment was slated for six months, we completed development and deployed for all states in three months. Afterwards, the team was reduced to three persons (the team lead, myself, and another developer) and given another task to re-write their existing new business module that is located within www.directgeneral.com; this module contains the core function of the business – to gather minimal information from the user to generate a car insurance quote in under a minute. This arduous task was entrusted my team out of an IT department with over

(50) developers due to the amount of time and money we saved Direct on our initial projects. And like the initial project, this project was slated for three months and we completed it in one and a half months. Other duties includeds team leadership and resource management. These “Jobs” were then passed to an order processing unit called the job processor to handling the different job types that was chosen by the user at check out; I performed a complete system overhaul on this process. The system overhaul included adding additional functionality to process multiple job types (Direct Mail, Dropship, and Fulfillment). This process also included gathering and rendering all files necessary to complete the order which is then sent to another back-office processor that handles all payment processing. This system made use of asynchronous .NET technologies coupled with delegates and MS Enterprise Logging Framework (ELF) for error handling provided robust logging; as well as generic handling of objects through the use of .NET generics passed throughout the system for reusability of each functional piece.
