EXPERIENCE

June 2013 – Present Histology Falmouth Hospital

Worked four years as the Senior Technician at Falmouth Hospital.

In 2014 while in between supervisors I became the “go to” person to prepare the lab and work with the inspector during the CAP Inspection for our lab.

Daily processed 100+ paraffin blocks and 150 slides for two pathologists. Assisted the PA with Accessioning and grossing simple to medium complexity specimens and cytology non-gyn fluids.

Feb 2013 – Jun 2013 South County Hospital, RI

Worked as a traveling Histology Technician for four months temporarily fill in for the lab’s regular ailing staff member. Smoothly transitioning into the regular flow of the Histology Department effortlessly.

Daily processed 100+ paraffin blocks and 130 slides for two pathologists and maintained over $100,000 worth of lab equipment and supplies for the histology lab.

Dec 2009 – Jan 2013 Day Shift Histology Supervisor NMC Portsmouth Virginia

Worked as sole Histology Technician for five months, a section normally staffed by three technicians. Worked additional hours to process 6k blocks and 12k tissue slides to meet a 24 required process time; ensured accurate diagnosis in support of 44k beneficiaries’ for the hospital and seven branch clinics.

Trained 175 personnel on fire safety prevention and safe evacuation of patients as Fire Warden for the hospital.

Flawlessly executed 10 fire evacuation drills and inspections; consistently received the highest score from Base Safety Officer and the command; ensured 100% compliance to The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and Bureau of Medicine and Surgery.

Managed two ACT8 Coulters, one ACT5, two ACL100 and one Clinitech analyzer- over $100,000 worth of equipment managing the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment ensuring proper testing performance and 100% accurate results reporting for over 12k patient samples annually as General Lab Supervisor.
