I was responsible for the development of the Epic system design and interface specifications based on the identified business needs of the clinic or hospital I was working with.

I would meet with senior staff, chairing meetings to establish and investigate their needs. This required me to establish the expectations of clients and communicate how they would be met. During the implementation of Epic systems, I would support staff and departments, training them to use the new system and assisting with concerns they had. This at times would require me to work with a number of individuals at the same time whilst they would also be dealing with patients. I therefore had to remain calm and manage a number of tasks efficiently despite pressurised situations.

NHS Imperial Trust, Cerner Floor Supervisor, Paddington and Hammersmith, February 2014- June 2014

I initially trained and became proficient in using Cerner Millennium, a patient administration system which replaced the existing system. Due to the competency I exhibited in using Cerner I became responsible for training and managing new staff members ('Cerner floorwalkers') who were recruited to help the hospital departments implement this system. I was then promoted to manage over 80 of these floorwalkers.

I would liaise with senior members of staff to decide on the number of Cerner floorwalkers they would need within their department. I was required to resolve problems our department encountered with Cerner or staffing issues, including last minute changes.

I met with staff and managers across the hospital to ensure that they were satisfied with the coverage provided and that any issues regarding the system’s infrastructure compatibility with the needs of each individual ward were met.

I chaired and participated in meetings with regard to Cerner’s roll out. I would brief floorwalkers each day before their shifts, issuing them individual beepers and informing them of any issues we may have experienced.

I created rotas for staff and ensured they all were present for their shifts. I also designed a system for measuring individual floorwalker’s system aptitude and used this to allocate them wards to match their skills set to the needs of the ward. This system was then used by myself, and senior staff to appoint team leaders at each hospital to supervise floorwalkers training and performance.

I would input and manage all 260 Floorwalkers' timesheets trust-wide and send these to the recruitment agency each week. This entailed ensuring that an accurate record of staff’s shifts was kept and any time inconsistencies were accounted for. Whilst working within this role I gained a thorough knowledge of working within a managerial capacity.
