JOURNAL

Mohammed Ehaabuddin Farooqui, Syed Hameeduddin Ahmed, Syed Khaja Imtiyazuddin Ahmed, Mohammed Ibrahim Abdul Aleem, Faraz Hussain Hashmi, M A Salman, Md. Mohiuddin- A Comparative Study on Linear Friction Welding for Dissimilar Metals- Accepted by “International Research of Modern Engineering Research”- Volume 4, Issue 12 (Version 3) December 2014

ABSTRACT: Linear Friction welding (LFW) is a solid state joining process in which a joint between two metals can be formed through the intimate contact of a plasticized layer at the interface of the adjoining specimens. When a stationary workpiece is pushed against another workpiece which is moving in a linear reciprocating manner, the plasticized layer is created through a combination of frictional heating between these two metals. This journal will cover the basics of the process and the fundamental aspects of operating a LFW machine using dissimilar metals.
