Worked on development projects in Vascular, Respiratory, and Anesthesia areas of the medical device industry. Provided manufacturing support in both the US and Mexican facilities improving efficiencies.
Established a functional extrusion research prototype lab environment and a developmental extrusion facility for the purpose of validation and productionizing products prior to launch.
Coordinated new product development between R&D, outside vendors, and the manufacturing facility, while correcting inefficiencies and raising the performance level of the facility in Mexico.
Planned and executed an in house 3-day technical seminar with outside industry speakers and hands on demonstrations, open to the entire international organization and attracting 60 attendees.
Travel to Mexico in support of high speed PVC lines for oxygen and nasal cannula products as well as R&D mold design work on new product respiratory breathing tubes.
As part of normal duties, followed all required requirements of FDA CFR21, ISO 13485. Wrote and implemented validation protocols (IQ, OQ, PQ). Employed statistical evaluation (Minitab) of results for validations and CAPA investigations. Maintained documents in DHF.

Research and Development Engineer
Collaborated on a variety of projects and developed processes for new product lines. Performed a complete evaluation of the melt processing area, rebuilding of non-usable equipment, refurbishing basket case purchases, establishing new procedures for successful processing of PU product lines, introduction of 2 new sizing techniques to manufacturing, proposing and implementation of a training program for the operators.
Identified and successfully negotiated the purchase of key pieces of equipment to enhance the capabilities of the operation.
Established standard tooling configurations for the variety of extrusion heads available in house, and the identification and documentation of the screw library for various polymers that were processed.
As the only R&D engineer in the organization, inherited all of the more difficult jobs for this OEM supplier in both engineering and commodity resins. This included tooling design for new products.

Responsibility for an 11 line PVC manufacturing operation with 300 employees for the production of hose products. Managed scheduling, QC, and development of new product samples.
Collaborated with the engineering staff on upgrades to the process, resulting in a substantial 20% reduction in scrap.
Introduced close loop control system, new water tank system, and an upgrade of the winding system to multiple projects

Worked with VP of sales on all new product / R&D development projects to be released into the marketplace. This was all done with the emphasis on costing and meeting required price points in the market.
Generated substantial amounts of technical documentation, in both manufacturing and QC areas, in support of the new facility in China.
Travelled extensively to China for start-up initiative, conducting training sessions in the new facility and establishing new programs for manufacturing and quality assurance functions.
Presented training plans to 20 operators, 30 support personnel and 10 person QC department, providing guidance to the production manager and QC manager to maintain programs.
