Inspect and analyze new construction, renovation, and demolition work sites to ensure that both contractor and government employees are adhering to complete safe work practices and National Electrical Code compliance. Required on many occasions to suspend construction work because of imminent danger situations. Document citations for deficiencies in construction safety. Investigate and analyze mishaps, cases of occupational disease and Unsafe/Unhealthful reports for general industry and construction. Recommend change and implementation of procedures to prevent future work site mishaps. Currently hold a secret clearance for security and a photo authorization pass. Confined Space Program Manager for one year appointment, under NAS. Administer and implement confined space policies for PAX River as a Confined Space Qualified Person (CSQP). Respond to customer needs for industrial and aircraft support whenever an employee must enter a confined space to perform their job requirements. Arrive on the job site and use industrial confined space GFG Gas Monitor, aviation confined space Multi Rae, NAVAIR approved equipment to evaluate the space for oxygen deficiency, toxic atmosphere, and flammability to protect the employee who must enter the space. Report all findings to the Supervisor at the NAS OSH Dept. Recommends any personal protective equipment needed to make the atmosphere safe whenever the space does not meet the "all clear" guidelines of the program. Report any findings of flammability present to the Confined Space Program Manager so that they may contact the NAS Fire Dept. for a hot work permit implementation to determine what actions are necessary for ventilation of the space to provide safe working conditions for workers.

Occasionally monitor the job extensively until the task is complete due to the atmospheric changes that may occur while workers are in the space. Develops safety training, presentations for employees, power point programs, and safety flash advisors for managers. Complete hazardous material inspections semi-annual with recommendations for storage and compliance. Held a Team Lead position for a group of six Safety Office employees for a period of 6 months. Appointed Public Safety Specialist position as Inspector for major air-shows and other public events at the Patuxent River Naval Base to perform Homeland Security Functions and Aviation Ground Safety for workers, visitors and guests. Aviation ground safety specialist since 1996. Works directly with the PAX River Emergency Management Division for all emergencies.

Use a variety of combustion test equipment such as Fyrite CO2/02 indicators, MZF draft gauge, tem point dial thermometer, true-spot smoke tester, oil burner smoke scale and fire efficiency finder slide rule, halogen testers, AC electrical tester, and boiler water test kit. Apply combustion efficiency test on three high-pressure boilers and assure that boilers are operating at proper combustion. Observes draft gauges, oil gauges and makes correction and air adjustments when required.

Accomplished annual overhaul and inspections on high-pressure boilers and four steam accumulators. Achieve the required preventive maintenance on auxiliary equipment such as, de-aerating tank, feed water storage tank, flash tank, and blow down tank, fuel oil storage tank and water softeners. Complete boiler inspection reports and participate in hydrostatic pressure test of steam power plant systems to determine the conditions of the equipment. Use correct safety procedures and test, repair, or replace safety valves as required. Repair or replace boiler tubes, casings, and tube hole seats as required. Remove, repair and reinstall a variety of insulating materials such as asbestos, fiberglass, flex weave and adhesives. Repair, adjust, or replace mechanical controls and helps trouble shoot electrical systems. Install, maintain and repair high temperature pressure systems such as water, air, steam and hydraulic. Perform tasks such as Lab Specialist by maintaining and recording oil deliveries for quality of product and boiler water chemical control. Read and interpret blueprints and sketches, do detail layout and fabrication work. Frequently require work without the use of blueprints or sketches or from guidelines, which is incomplete or out of date requiring personal knowledge and integrity to complete assignment. Use testing and measuring equipment such as micrometers, test pumps, hydrostatic testing, dye penetrating, magni-fluxing, welding, burning and related equipment.
