WORK EXPERIENCE

Process/Manufacturing Engineer, Jayshree Hose Industries, Faridabad, India May 2013-July 2014

Consulted with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and project implementation timeline to facilitate consistency during production processes.

Planned and executed lean production throughout the plant. Led a cross-functional team to achieve continuous improvement using tools such as 5S, Six Sigma, Kanban, Kaizen, and Value Steam mapping to reduce cost by eliminating waste and improve production efficiency.

Facilitated new product development and validated Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation and Engineering Change Notice (ECN) documentation. Also, suggested the process flow & shop floor diagram.

Deployed safety policy, assessing ergonomic conditions and implementing improvement projects to provide safety on the shop floor.

Rectified customer’s complaints using root cause analysis tools like C&E diagram, Pareto chart and Fishbone diagram to ensure customer satisfaction.

Manufacturing Engineer, Omax Autos Ltd. Gurgaon, India Oct 2011-April 2013

Led a team of 4 Graduate Engineer Trainees (GET) in an improvement and cost reduction project on robotic welding line; performed cycle time study along with process mapping and rectified a persistently occurring quality issue at customer end in a motorbike chassis assembly; gave a presentation to CEO and MD and an estimate of $5,000/month of rework and rejection cost reduction was achieved.

Promoted to Manufacturing Engineer position for a unit where critical engine component such as drive sprocket, timing gear, oil pump etc. was manufactured for Hero MotoCorp & Honda motorbikes using a variety of machines such as CNC lathes, drill machines, broaching, hobbing as well as some Special Purpose Machines (SPM). Troubleshoot and edited PLC issues on automatic machines.

Technical support provided to the Quality department for root cause analysis of scrap product and implementing corrective actions. Also, assisted Quality and Product Engineering teams to employ PFMEA, Control Plans, DVP&R, and testing.

Developed and maintained the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for production related processes and train operators, and supervisors, as required to improve reliability and throughput.

Assisted in BOM (Bill of Materials) and routings validation. Performed time studies as required to ensure standard time and standard cost accuracy in SAP MRP system.

Attended weekly production/scheduling meeting and utilized SAP reports to identify areas of improvement.

Managed a team of 7-10 people including supervisors, fitter, and technicians during mid-night shift. Worked on a joint initiative with maintenance team to perform breakdown time and frequency data analysis on critical machines. Reduced the downtime on ten critical machines by half; which led to saving an estimate of $2,000/month earlier lost due to loss of production.

Research Assistant, Nanomaterials & Manufacturing Lab, Lamar University, Beaumont TX May 2016-April 2017

Successfully defended thesis titled “To Generate Green Electricity from Living Plants (Spartina patens) through Plant-Microbial Fuel Cell with Stainless Steel Electrodes”. I could achieve a 10-fold increase in power conversion efficiency in comparison to similar researches done in past.

Prepared purchase requisitions & purchase orders as well as procured raw materials required for the lab, trained design project students in the lab.

Analyzed thesis project data using MS Excel and Tableau to calculate efficiency of the process.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Optimization of a Natural convection air-cooled condenser Spring 2016

Designed and optimized an air-cooled condenser for a minimum first cost that rejects 140kW of heat. Specifically select the height, the dimension of the square coil and stack, and several rows of tube heights in the heat exchanger section. To achieve this, I wrote a MATLAB code to solve 5x5 matrix and used Lagrange Multiplier optimization method.

Simulating a Two-stage air compressor Spring 2016

A two-stage air compressor with counter flow heat exchanger was simulated using Newton-Raphson method. MATLAB code was written to solve equations using the fsolve function. Values of the amount of intake air, Intermediate pressure and outlet temperature as a function of air intake pressure was also plotted.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Awarded Research Engineering Grant (REG) to my thesis project as well as In-state scholarship throughout Masters Aug 2015-May 2017

President at LU Green Squad a student organization on campus to promote sustainability

and recycling through various student activities. April 2016-April 2017

Volunteered as a team leader in the first ‘Big Event’ at The Lamar University April 2017
