Resume:

Dear Hiring Manager:

I was interested to see your job description for a position posted on the Internet. I believe you are searching for either a Programmer Analyst, .Net Programmer, Application Developer or for a SQL Server Database Developer.

I am searching for a position and would like to learn more about this opportunity.

I am a programmer and most of my experiences are from working with the Microsoft development tools.

While I have been ask to work on many types on programming projects I am most skillful in C#, Visual Basic and SQL Server programming. I develop not only the data structure, I also compile testing data, design how the client application communicates. I have a method of code tracking, process tracking and application control. I also have a method for tracking changes to code. In addition to this I manage code descriptions, process descriptions, bug descriptions and writing user help files and setup documents.

In both Visual Studio 2003 and Visual Studio 2005, I am capable programmer with C#, VB.Net, ADO.Net while working on ASP.Net and Web Services projects. On a number of projects the tasks included upgrades and code fixes to existing code, new webpages or a complete website devised and implemented in ASP. Net. Some projects were migration projects from Standard ASP or a VB6 application to ASP.net. A few applications were client access portals into a private database. There were a series of replication projects where a website or a portion of a website was replicated and modified for a particular client or purpose. And a few projects were meant to replace the management of spreadsheets and client data. For instance in one project airline flight information on shipping were compiled and stored into a designed database. A Web Service was designed to import and merge flight confirmations with shipment tracking numbers and format the results for populating ASP.net controls on a webpage. One project was a normal database project where the database was designed and implemented with SQL Server. Encrypted user passwords, image files stored in a database and a number of different data imports were used in the foundation. Another project was an exchange of an older project in VB6 and SQL server. The original project was an employee database that included project codes and office phone numbers. The new project was a tracking database for which tracking computer assignments and user passwords. The users in the company have anywhere from 5 to 30 passwords for websites and operational applications. The application allowed us to track original user passwords and user movement from one computer to another.

The programming projects with Visual Basic were not just limited to Visual Basic 6. Projects were developed with Microsoft Office VBA and Visual Basic Scripting with both scripting files and webpage programming. A significant number of projects were developed with Visual Interdev 6, earlier versions of both SQL Server and Crystal Reports.

As a result I have worked on maintenance and enhancement projects, migration projects and environment specific projects. For example today I move code from Excel 2003 VBA to Visual Basic 6, add a number of changes and upgrades and compile an EXE that generates Excel files populated with data from a SQL Server. The users don’t have to manage the code and the interface is compatible without making changes to the Windows platform and interfering with the production applications on the system. Another VB6 project was designed to access the SQL Server database and provide administrative changes to the database. The interface was written in the same VB6 language. It mimicked the same user interface with the same controls as the production application. Other applications were written using existing software and resources that were found in the company’s environment.

In the area of database development, I have several years of experience with SQL Server from the earlier versions up to SQL Server 2008. While the main development has been with designing table, triggers, stored procedures, complex queries, and importing and exporting data. I have the ability to write and optimize complex SQL queries, procedures and functions based on previous completed code samples and code samples from other programmers as templates and research and development of new code samples. I have some familiarity with Business Integration projects and have worked with SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Integration Services. I have experience with different database replication. this includes restoring databases from backups, copying database resources directly from another database using the importing and exporting tools, and on several occasions I was forced to wright code to process data validation and data maintenance and produce a new resource that could be easily entered into a newly created database and I have on occasion reexamined the original data sources for a new data extract, normalized the data and redesigned the table structure of the specific tables. I have the ability to perform both database-level and operating system performance tuning and monitoring. I have knowledge of SQL Server backup and recovery scenarios. I am proficient in SQL Server security management. And, I have experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the systems development life cycle. I have experience with maintaining SQL Server Agent jobs, Maintenance Plans, window’s Scheduled Tasks and some Reporting Services. On one project I use SQL Profiler to run a database trace and isolate user tables. A query was designed to extract information on table locks and a plan to redesign application tables to avoid conflicts between processes. Another database project was a migration from Microsoft Access. The process included migrating VBA windows, designing a new database and a method for automating the generation of monthly Excel spreadsheets. Email notices from the system with files attachments are sent to users using Collaboration Data Objects.

In the area of Microsoft Windows platforms, I have experiences both Server Environments and Desktop environments. I have strong abilities with installing, configuring and administrating and troubleshooting both Windows XP and Windows Server. I have experience with basic Windows Networking, TCP/IP. In all, I have experience with deploying Windows Desktops and Servers, SQL Server, Exchange Server, Internet Information Server and Security and Acceleration Server and Small Business Server.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my qualifications would enable me to make a valuable contribution to your firm. Enclosed is my resume, which summarizes my experiences and education.

Thank you for your time and considerations.

Sincerely,

Timothy Maturah
