Accomplished several projects focusing on increase in fuel economy through engine and powertrain development. Experienced in SI, CI, HCCI engine and powertrain testing. Designed an on-board system reducing 60% carbon emissions from tailpipe for heavy-duty vehicle.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Graduate Intern, Commercial Transport Fuels Research Aramco Services Company, Novi, MI, May – August 2016
• Initiated the Carbon Capture Project, contributing towards the Carbon Management Program in Dhahran, Saudi Aramco while working in Heavy-duty Engine R&D Division.
• Conducted engine performance and emission tests for alternate fuels in steady-state and transient cycles.
• Validated a heat-transfer model for aftertreatment performance of light naphtha in GT-Suite.
• Designed an on-board CO2 capture system integrated with waste heat recovery with 60% capture efficiency in GT-Suite.
• Determined system size, capture rate and energy available at 13 different operating conditions using Aspen HYSYS.
Dynamometer Test Cell, Engine Lab
APS Labs, Michigan Technological University, MI, 2015 - 2017
• Developed test cell setup and testing equipment and sensors.
• Implemented test procedures for SI, CI and HCCI engine with dSPACE control and analyzed ECU/ECM drawings.
• Experienced in test cell control and monitoring of mechanical, air handling, water, cooling, hydraulic and electrical systems. PROJECTS
Performance analysis of a heat exchanger for recovering water from exhaust of medium-duty engines.
• Determined cooler performance of water vapor condensation using 2-phase meshing for various designs of heat exchanger.
• Recovered 60% water from exhaust using GT-Suite and Ansys. Effects of thermal stratification and EGR in HCCI engines.
• Analyzed effects on combustion phasing, NOx and ignition delay using a CHEMKIN Multi-zone model and a 3D DI combustion chamber and flame propagation in Converge.
• Decreased pressure rises by 67% reducing knocking and reduced NOx formation by 98%.
