Hiring Manager,

I am a Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager with experience in design, fabrication, manufacturing and project and personnel management in the Metal Fabrication, Medical, Consumer Goods, Air Systems/Dust Control and Aerospace industries. I graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cedarville University in 2007 and have been employed in engineering and manufacturing roles since.

Immediately after graduation, I spent two and a half years at a metal fabrication company, MOR/ryde Inc., in Elkhart, IN. In December of 2009, I took a position at a High-Tech Manufacturing company, Metalex Mfg. in Cincinnati, OH. In seeking a role that was more engineering oriented, in September of 2011, I accepted a position as an Air Systems Engineer for PAK/TEEM Inc. (now ATMOS360) in Cincinnati, OH. While my time at ATMOS360 has been valuable in gaining experience and providing a challenging environment, recent changes within the company have led me to seek employment elsewhere.

My roles at ATMOS360 have included providing Engineering and Project Management of air systems to a variety of clients including Procter and Gamble, Kimberly Clark, Georgia Pacific, Sun Products (Henkle), Post Foods, Kellogg, and many other consumer goods companies. This engineering work ranges from design of Dust Control Systems and/or Hygiene Systems for new manufacturing or packaging processes to providing support for upkeep, upgrades or reconditioning of existing equipment.

My role also involves providing cost information and quotations to customers for specified workscopes as well as tracking the internal costs and progress for each job that I manage. My day-to-day interactions include working with plant personnel, equipment vendors and contractors for providing workscope, managing equipment procurement, and scheduling work. I also work hand in hand with members of other engineering departments (both internal and external to ATMOS360), to develop equipment requirements and specifications. I also interact with and guide design staff to provide detailed drawings, flow sheets and support documents for fabrication and installation of equipment. The role requires up to a week of travel on average, once or twice a month, to various manufacturing and packaging facilities all over the world. In each of these roles there is minimal management from my supervisor as he expects me to be self-motivating and disciplined in accomplishing my tasks from job beginning to completion, once the project has been issued to me.

Previous to working at ATMOS360, I was employed in the front office Business Development Unit at Metalex Manufacturing. My roles there included cost estimating and quoting high tech machining jobs, reviewing production issues in order to resolve problems that result in cost overages, reviewing and distributing Engineering Change Requests, and interacting with customers to determine requirements and constraints for high tech manufacturing projects.

And previous to working at Metalex, I held an Engineering and Production Management role at MorRryde Inc. Initially, I was in an engineering role that included product design, cost estimating and quoting, prototyping, and manufacturing. These involved interacting with customers to develop and produce a finished product to their specifications. From there, I moved to a production manager role where I oversaw all aspects of the fabrication of medical equipment products (hospital beds, stretchers, wheel chairs, etc.).

During my time in college, I had multiple internship experiences that gave me experience in solid modeling, creating drawings, interacting with production units and customers to develop a process or product and manufacturing a finished good. I was also a designer and project manager with the Cedarville University Supermileage Car Team.

These experiences, along with the four years I spent on the Cedarville University Men’s Varsity Soccer team (one year as captain of the team) and a combined ten years as a member of an engineering team at MOR/ryde, Metalex and ATMOS360 have prepared me to effectively work as a member of a team to deliver results. They have also exposed me to and provided experience in various management roles.

Some of my skills include:

- 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation,

- Solidworks, Inventor 3D, AutoCad

- Drawing Interpretation and Bills Of Material creation,

- Extensive use of Microsoft Office Suite

- Word, Excel, Project, Powerpoint

- Manufacturing Process systems

- Epicor, Visual

- Creating work instructions, processes and flow charts.

A Few Notable Accomplishments:

- Utilimaster Corporation, custom bonded sidewall prototype truck (2003)

- Second Place Finish at the Shell Eco Marathon Supermileage Competition (2007)

- MOR/ryde, medical bed and shipping equipment development (2009)

- Kellogg Waffle Wheel Vapor Control System Design (2014)

- Proctor & Gamble, various detergent Dust Control Systems design and balancing (2012 – current)

- Nelson Packaging bead line packaging Dust Control System design and installation management (2015)

- Dixie Cup Dust Control System Design and Implementation (2016)

- Kimberly Clark Corporation filter system start-up in Tanjian China (2016)

Activities:

- Member of church Audio Visual Team, providing sound and video for church services

- Member of church Safety Team, providing management of weather, health and safety/security situations

- High School Soccer Coach, 2008 - 2016, assistant coach for various high school varsity soccer programs

I greatly appreciate your considerations in reviewing my resume. If there are any further questions or concerns that I may address, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Tyler Schumacher
