General Director Jose Engling Catholic School Tumbaco, Ecuador August 2009 – April 2010. Directed more than 75 staff members, implemented new language acquisition methodology, closely supervised principals and Department Administrators, was active in the Board of Directors and Financial Committees, and oversaw the total administration of the school. I resigned on excellent terms due to an illness of a family member.

East Region ELL Coordinator Clark County School District Las Vegas, Nevada 2006 – 2008. As the East Region Coordinator, I was responsible for the implementation of second language, bilingual and dual language programs. In addition, I was directly responsible for the region’s refugee program where I supervised all aspects related to transitioning students to the USA. Within the region, I coordinated language programs and assisted principals and staff on implementing best practices for second language students throughout my region’s forty-one schools. I also supervised and trained ELL Specialists, testers and family advocates in each of the schools assigned to my region. I coordinated training for teachers and specialists, monitored second language students and refugee student status and progress, selected materials to be implemented in different schools, and analyzed data to pinpoint necessary interventions needed to help students achieve. As the East Region Coordinator I reported directly to the East Region Superintendent and to the Director of the English Language Learner Program. I was a member of the East Region’s Administrative Team where I met regularly with the East Region Superintendent and the Associate Superintendents. I was also a member of the Clark County School District’s English Language Learner Administrative Team where we discussed and planned training for our ELL Specialists and testers. There were approximately 23,000-second language learners in the East Region who were directly impacted by the decisions made by my department and regions’ initiatives. Clark County School District ELL Specialist 1995 – 2005 I worked in various K-12 schools throughout the District providing second language programs and training to teachers and staff. In each of the schools that I worked, I was responsible for the correct placement and needs of all new second language students including refugees and lower income populations. I conducted interviews with new students’ families in order to ascertain background information and any special needs they, or their children may have had.

During the evenings, I worked for the Clark County School District as a site based coordinator for adult language education programs.
