Qualities and Attributes:
Demonstrated overall engineering and architectural understanding of the structure and consequent intersection of systems that impact deployment, development and set up of support for new technology and end of life cycle roadmaps.
An outgoing and gregarious personality that captures customers, leaders, suppliers, and co-workers attention. Focus on process improvement, vendor relations and support. Most important is to coach and mentor newly introduced co-workers across the IT organization that intersect with my team(s) so we can succeed together.
20 years of experience analyzing large corporate or small business needs and requirements, to solve problems and to provide efficiency in terms of Advanced Exchange equipment solutions and optimize the ROI. Digging into the language of a Statement of Work to best protect the interests of the company is important to me - the truth lies in the small print to allow proper negotiations up front.
Comprehensive understanding of industry hardware and software, and a history of applying systems, tools, work standardization knowledge and techniques to create, enhance, or transition business and financial applications. I’m all about consolidated remote management tools!
Works to ambitious goals and provides quantifiable metrics and measurements to track activities and validate successes. I like the “messy” stuff, it stretches me to come up with options.
Career Highlights:
Recreational Equipment Incorporated (REI) – Kent, WA (May 1999-present)
Overall Career path at REI Headquarters:
Nominated eleven times over 17 years of service in several different positions for the annual Anderson Award, given to REI’s highest performing employees across the nation.
Retail Infrastructure New Store Project Mgr. - (March 2012 - present)
Management requested my return from Scrum Master to the New Store Team due to resource constraints with only one person left opening New Stores as the Project Manager. Given our trending rise in volume of New Stores, Remodels, Relocations and Expansions that went typically from six to eight per year on an average, it has increased to 12+ over the last two years.
Currently undergoing an agile process improvement dissection and workshop for the New Store process from end to end, to nail down the roadblocks and address them with solution ideas in an effort to better streamline the work and easily train other Project Managers the workflow.
Responsible for current and updated documentation to vendors and internal employees having any part of the initiation of the setup, install and support for both hardware and back end systems for new stores.
Oversee the vendor install of all of the hardware store equipment of the server rack, low voltage, phone systems, desktops, handhelds, mobile selling assistants, printers both wired and wireless, iPads, copiers, registers, debit pins, security camera equipment, traffic counter, conference room setup, and outreach laptops. Validate performance of hardware during a documented “Walkthrough” process with store staff before closing out the install.
Oversee the back end system work assignments out to a variety of internal IT teams to stand up systems, coordinating over an average of 104 to 110 individual tasks shared between a variety of over 30 different people, all timed sequentially and tested during the timeline as work proceeds.
Project managed the last very challenging three store server rack and gear replacements due to necessary construction work needing to be completed prior to the install because of space constraints in the server closet area with the Construction Team. Managed the remaining budget, engineering resources, coordination with store staff, and reporting out of the progress all night after store close to completion the next morning.
Certified Scrum Master – Digital Retail StoreFront Application – (Feb. 2011 – Feb. 2012)
Scrum Master for Retail Store Back Office agile team charged with building and deploying a store specific tailoring attribute for all retail REI stores in SharePoint, but also showcasing Common Used Tools and information as a means to relieve the constant emails blasted to each and every store about important information like Recalls, Sales information, etc.
Scrum Master for the ONLY agile team in Digital Retail to successfully deploy our tool, under one year, under budget with a very limited team size of 8 to 12 all available on a part time basis only, compared to other teams in the same department with 20 to 32 people dedicated full time.
