WORK EXPERIENCE
Research Assistant New Jersey Institute of Technology, NJ, USA 2015- Present
Project: Novel Activity Tracker for Animal Behavioral Studies
• Designed a collar to record audio, locate & track animal activities and store data to SD card
• Deployed sleep mode for efficient power usage and Real Time Clock for time tag
• Used AVR Microcontroller with GPS, Accelerometer, mic, SD card and Developed Software in C/C++
• Reduced the overall cost by 35%, improved audio sampling rate by 31% and battery life by 40% Responsibilities: System Design and Integration, Implementation of firmware, hardware validation and test Team Lead St. Francis Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India 2013- 2014 For Robocon India 2014, an APAC Robotics Competition
• Developed a cost effective & efficient, manual and autonomous robot
• Organized workshop for students on Robotics, basic electronics and Arduino.
• Raised revenue of INR 30,000 for the Team
• Improved team raking from 32nd to 24th position out of 103 teams across the country Responsibilities: Robot’s concept designs and electronics, testing, on field bot operator ACADEMIC PROJECTS
• FPGA based Sudoku solver
Developed a VHDL code using Altera DE2-70 FPGA board to solve Sudoku puzzles using Backtracking Algorithm. The solving time improved by 40% compared to brute force search method
• Spam Classification Using SVM and Perceptron Algorithm Designed a spam classifier using supervised learning, a machine learning technique. Used Support Vector Machine and Perceptron Algorithm to differentiate between a good email and spam. Parsed
‘2005 TREC Public Spam Corpus’ dataset in Python and algorithm was implemented using MATLAB
• CDMA Implementation
Implemented a synchronous CDMA transmitter and receiver in VHDL using New sets of 16-bit Walsh-like nonlinear phase binary orthogonal user codes. Used Xilinx Vivado and IP to design the system layout and to store the code in single port rom. Successfully designed the system layout, pad frame and simulated under lossless condition
• Real Time Audio FFT
Used STM32F4 Discovery 32-bit ARM Cortex micro-controller to compute the FFT in real time on Audio signal taken from the Microphone. Used free RTOS to meet the real time deadline of computing FFT, taking audio input and displaying on Serial monitor. Responsible for RTOS implementation and micro controller programming
• Incrementer/ Decrementer
Designed layout using standard cells 0.18um CMOS technology with successful LVS and DRC test using Mentor graphics and successful simulation using HSPICE. Improved the RTL circuit speed by the factor of 2 by using zipper CMOS circuit. Responsible for design optimization, layout design, pad frame and simulation using HSPICE
• Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance (Led the team of 4)
Developed an algorithm for self-driving cars that can avoid collisions and manipulate the best possible path to destination. Responsible for algorithm design and programming the bot. Prototype was designed using small bot using 8-bit Atmel AVR micro controller and 8 IR sensors. The algorithm can be implemented in an autonomous car using industry standard sensors EXTRA CURRICULUM
• Scribe & Reader New Jersey Institute of Technology, NJ, USA 2016 – Present Volunteering for students of ‘Disability support services’ to assist them in exam writing and proctoring
• Robot Programmer St. Francis Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India 2013 Programmed robot in ‘C’ for college’s faculty participation at E-Yantra, an IIT-Bombay Robotics research platform (secured 2nd position)
