Experience
8/2016 – Present Software Engineer II, Vaco, Raleigh, NC
I am contracted to Quintiles to develop and maintain online investigator portals for doctors, nurses and nurse practitioners involved in researching new pharmaceuticals and medical devices. These portals are delivered to seamlessly function across desktop and mobile platforms. I use HTML5, jQuery, CSS3, SASS, Bootstrap and Foundation on a daily basis to provide all the front end elements required by the user experience designers. I coordinate daily with management, testing, and back end development teams across the globe.
8/2015 – 3/2016 Front End Developer, Robert Half Technologies, Raleigh, NC
I was contracted to Cargosphere to create online Software as a Service (SaaS) prototypes, and to maintain existing online software packages. I used HTML5, CSS3, jQuery and JSON. My responsibilities included development, troubleshooting user interface and user experience issues, repair, deployment, and some design/development of data-driven interactions using Java Server Page (JSP) files. I used Compliance Sheriff to test code.
2/2012 – 7/2015 Front End Web Developer III, Iron Data Solutions, Raleigh, NC
I designed and implemented user interfaces for online eGovernment case management and inspection software products which were compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. My concentration was on mobile applications as well as responsive desktop apps. I was responsible for ensuring accessibility for disabled users by delivering valid HTML, CSS and JavaScript, WAI-ARIA landmarks and JAWS compatible semantic code, and by performing unit and e2e testing.
9/2011 – 2/2012 Web Developer, Computer Task Group (CTG), Morrisville, NC
I was contracted to IBM to develop browser-based server management software products. I wrote XHTML, CSS and Dojo JavaScript code to implement new server functionality and continually reviewed entire application for Section 508 compliance.

2/2010 – 5/2010 Front End Engineer, CC Intelligent Solutions, Raleigh, NC
Utilizing XHTML, jQuery and CSS, I designed and produced web-based user-centered mockups from which software engineers would implement online eGovernment software products. My code was required to be W3C standards compliant, cross-browser compatible and based upon current industry best practices. I tested this code using Rational Policy Tester. I also maintained the CCIS website (PHP) and Flash content thereon.
10/2009 – 1/2010 Front End Engineer, Smart Online, Durham, NC
I wrote XHTML, CSS and JavaScript to conform online software user interfaces to W3C standards. My concentration was in cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility, user experience and optimization. I also did a small but appreciable amount of graphics and JSP work.
9/2008 – 4/2009 Web Developer/Software Deployment Engineer, DataDirect, Morrisville, NC
I successfully deployed Omniture SiteCatalyst analytics package on company website, ensuring consistent communication between legacy HTML, JSP, JavaScript and Omniture code. I coordinated efforts between third party support, local contractors and management to provide and confirm accurate online marketing data. I collected, passed and reported data through non-standard and mismatched channels. I was also responsible for internationalization and localization of web portals.
2/2006 – 9/2008 Software Engineer, Computer Task Group (CTG), Durham and Morrisville, NC
Contracted to IBM as a data administrator for the ServerProven hardware and software compatibility website, I was responsible for processing compatibility and configuration data from a database and ensuring its timely and accurate display on the website via Visual Basic, JavaScript and HTML. This important back end work supported a worldwide sales force and customer base. My tasks included daily maintenance of the data set, planning system launches and liaison between technical staff and content owners. I was promoted to Webmaster to lead the team working technical aspects of the website including production, deployment, development, maintenance, data flow and customer satisfaction. Typical tasks included all those of my former role as well, allowing me to control and assure the quality from start to finish.

My task was to decommission Central Carolina Bank’s customer websites and ensure the smooth transition of services to SunTrust’s websites during their merge. I found this interesting work because, for the first time, I was taking a website apart instead of building one. My tactics included developing web-based multimedia (Flash), designing and producing instructional video and distance learning deliverables, planning and implementing website information architecture for customer-facing web pages and an online catalogue, coordinating with content providers nationally and internationally to ensure effective messaging and producing website deliverables and content updates based on user-centered design and handicapped user accessibility principles. After implementing the CMS I worked as a contractor, making companion websites for college textbooks.
