JOB TITLE: PRIMARY NURSE
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides quality health care to assigned clients and their families under the direction of Unit coordinator.
Utilizes specialized knowledge and skills in anticipation of nursing interventions and outcomes.
Responsible in accurate and safe transcription of prescriptions, storage, preparation, administration and documentation of medicines of patients in assigned unit.
Supervises students and health care assistants in the delivery of health care.
Maintains a comfortable, clean, safe environment and coordinates function of the available equipment and their preventive maintenance.
RELATIONSHIP: Reports to Unit Coordinator
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES (Standard of Performance)
1.To be responsible for quality client/family healthcare delivery within the nursing unit.
2.Implements the nursing process in providing quality client/family health care.
3.To be responsible for the nursing staff in the proper carrying out of its duties in order to maintain proper professional standards for the care of patients.
4.To prepare the patient for diagnostic procedures, treatment and therapeutic regimen.
5.To administer medications safely and accurately and timely.
6.To transcribe prescriptions, follow up, facilitate and store patients’ supply of medicine in the unit safely and accurately.
7.To document medications administered according to the guidelines provided.
8.To provide health education and information to patient and family regarding medications administered.
9.To document completely all the needed data and nursing care activities according to the nursing care standard.
10.To be responsible for personal professional growth and development by reporting to duty on time, attending institutional, departmental, and unit meetings and updates or continuing education.
