Resume:

Hiring Committee,

I graduated from Kansas State University Electrical Engineering major this May. I am looking for a full-time job opportunity.

During college, I gained a strong interest in Internet of Things field. In my sophomore year, I met a senior student who was building a house model with Internet of Things technology. In his model, he can control all the LEDs with his smart phone. At that moment, I noticed that internet of things would be important in the future. The aging of society has become growing social problem. Internet of things can create an easier and safer life for those people.

In my junior year, I made a moving alarm for one of my class project with two of my classmates. For this project, I used two STM32F407 boards, two Adafruit Huzzah ESP8266 breakout and a MQTT broker hosted on a Raspberry Pi. STM32 is micro-controller which can connect to different sensors. After programmed, this micor-controller can be used to measure the acceleration. The detection board will send a message through MQTT broker and be revised by the control board. It was a good chance to grow experience working in a team. Different with personal project, communication is very important.

At this moment, I am working on a team project for a solar powered autonomous cleaning robot. This robot is used to clean the trash and dust on the roof, ledge, or some high and danger area. This robot need to measure the cleaning area and to map this area before it begins cleaning work. There are some distance-sensors were fixed around the robot to sensor the walls or the edges. This robot will find the edge for the aim-area and move around the edge in clockwise. Other two sensors were fixed beside two wheels to measure the distance each wheel moved. For the project, I cannot design the robot as I want. I also have to consider cost. Meanwhile, I need to stand in “customers’ shoes” to design for market.

I am a member in Electronics Design Club since 2014. With the projects, I got a lot of experience in designing and programming. In 2016 open house, I demonstrated my project: Chinese Language Assistant Toy, and it was the outstanding display of the event. In this project, there are some RFID card with Chinese characters wrote on them. A RFID Controller Shield was used to identify the RFID cards, and send the sign to Arduino. If the characters can set up a vocabulary, the wave shield will play the voice with both Chinese and English pronunciation with a speaker. In this event, I need to introduce my project to guests who might do not know anything about engineering field and catch their interests.

I have been working in Power and Energy Researching Lab for Dr. Behrooz Mirafzal, since May of 2015. In this lab, I get the chance to work with the graduate students. Most of my work is helping to build their projects for researching.

Sincerely,

Tianlu Wu
