Professional Experience
SME Planner/Scheduler/Cost Control
As the Imperial Oil Subject Matter Expert (SME) and formerly within Western Canada Mining Projects (WCMP) provided Planning Advisor expertise including oversight for creation and implementation of consistent coordination procedures, progress measurement, schedule development, schedule control systems, and mentoring of Exxon Staff. Responsibility for ensuring implementation, consistently, across the business organization and have met and/or exceeded the requirements of the Exxon Mobil Development Company (EMDC) Project Controls model. Success of this role has been linked to the following responsibilities:
Provide oversight to the Imperial Oil and Syncrude Project Lead Schedulers during the project development stages (EMCAPS) on various WCMP projects (12).
Facilitate project team members in maintaining alignment with respect to WCMP Business Services project planning requirements and processes
Work with Independent Project Review (IPR) teams and post audit activities with respect to project planning functions
Support PT and Cost Stewards with ongoing project schedule analysis, reporting, and forecasting.
Ensure the Developed Control Schedules (annual and multi-year) reflect the approved project design/execution scope
Monitoring and appraising the performance of Contractor's Site(s) in the areas of progress and schedule control.
Examine and evaluate the Contractor’s schedules, control organization, plans, performance and procedures
Review and endorse baseline schedules for progress and forecasts as prepared by contractors for contracts and change orders.
Assist project management in developing/reviewing schedule corrective actions and recovery plans, and making sure needed actions/plans are implemented.
Maintain regular contact with the other Project Services organizations, the Project Estimate and Controls organization for the overall project (in particular the planning engineers).
Provide feedback to project staff and coordinate the roll-up of an integrated schedule(s) with the Estimate and Controls organization for the overall project.
Past SME and Planning lead responsibilities include:
Providing accurate and timely reporting of required reports for Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) to multitude of owners - Alyeska, BP, and Conoco Phillips. Oversee and assist in development, updating, and maintenance of integrated schedule used to represent Contractors Level 3 & 4 Schedules.
Capably analyzed, correlated and reported costs for power facilities and military installations to upper management, groups within the Corp of Engineers and AFCEE.
Collected and analyzed historical data for development of conceptual and unit price estimates on power facilities. Provided schedule updates and look-ahead schedules for field management team. Developed proposal schedules, manpower assessments/charts, productivity analysis, premium factor analysis, SOV, and payment schedules for foreign and domestic projects.
Project Management
Managed specialty demolition projects from estimate stage to project completion. Review project scope and contracts for compliance to specifications. Establish and arrange pre-construction conference meetings, initial schedule development, manpower assessment, and equipment requirements. Reporting of cost, schedule, and progress to President. Claims Analysis and Preparation
Initiate client meetings to isolate concerns and issue code matrix information and data assessed as presentation material to legal entities for use in mediation, arbitration, and/or court cases. Reconstruction of as-built schedules derived from data found in records, provided critical path impact analysis, contract review / analysis, change order assessment, and premium and productivity analysis. Assisted in Landmark case against Tutor-Saliba Perini for Public Works, City of Los Angeles.
Estimating
Initiated planning, construction, and turn-over estimates for Pump Station 5 (TAPS) portion of the Project using G-2. Utilized historical and trend data for forecasting time change and specific change estimates, civil, electrical, and structural. Provided hard bid, engineering, and order of magnitude estimates for Owners and Engineers on commercial and industrial facilities. Researched, implemented, managed, and accurately maintained accurate, cost effective computerized estimating systems (Timberline and MC2).
