WORK EXPERIENCE
Alcon - Novartis, R&D Mechanical Engineering Intern May 2016 – August 2016
Fabricated custom tools like a concentric cutter, to prepare cornea samples for its mechanical
testing in the Instron equipment.
Aided in designing a fixture using Creo and fabricated it using a 3D printer to perform
Mechanical impact tests on an AcrySof material.
Developed a simulation model for the cornea of a porcine eye to analyze a wound tear
during incision using ANSYS and validated results using compliance and tensile tests.
Predicted the force at which an Intraocular lens material would crease using a nonlinear static
and transient analysis of a viscoelastic material under compression.
Accenture Services Private Limited, Software Engineering Associate May 2013 – May 2014
Developed code for Key Performance Indicators, Scorecards and other graphical reports
using OBIEE 11g platform to implement fast data extraction.
Improved the run time of code by 30%.and implemented white box testing.
Tecumseh Products, Graduate Engineer Trainee October 2014 - November 2014
Analyzed the work flow of assembly operations of a refrigerator air compressor.
Reviewed functions of components like crankcase, piston, connecting rod to
understand the assembly procedure in detail.
Honda Cars India, Summer Intern June 2011 - July 2011
Implemented root cause analysis of market failed parts in the Manufacturing department.
Disassembled the automatic gear box of Honda Civic to understand the internal functioning.
Reviewed the shop floor of a Honda dealership and the entire operation of the business
service flow.
RESEARCH PROJECTS
Experimental Investigation of Magnetic Abrasive Finishing, undergraduate project Spring 2013
Improved the surface finish of SS316L pieces by reducing the average surface roughness value by 50%
and analyzed the effects of process parameters such as voltage and feed rate on the experiments.
Learning Based Approach of Self Organizing Systems, research graduate project Spring 2016
Optimized the foraging task of multiple robots by implementing Genetic Algorithm using Webots.
ACADEMIC PROJECTS
Quadcopter ‘Shadow’, graduate hardware project Fall 2016
Manufactured an auto-leveling built-in-GPS racing quadcopter with a carbon fiber body and two
Arduino microprocessors. Configured PID gains to maximize in-flight stability using BetaFlight.
Optimization of a custom fitness regime to build muscle mass, graduate project Spring 2017
Gained 8 lbs. of muscle mass in 3 months by optimizing a fitness regime. Built process and value stream
maps to identify value addition. Incorporated lean principles like Jidoka, Kaizen, Ishikawa, etc. to save time
and cost. Achieved a cost savings of $270 and time savings of 105 hours in 3 months.
Stair climbing robot, undergraduate hardware project Spring 2012
Fabricated a working prototype based on a stair traversing mechanism using low RPM motors. Designed the
prototype using Solidworks and built using Bosch cutting and planing tools in the mechanical workshop.
Design of a highly repeatable centrifugal governor, graduate design project Spring 2016
Improved a centrifugal governor as per the design intent using SolidWorks and performed
finite element analysis using a 3D solid element model to obtain the optimum dimension set and mass.
Design of a Mechanical Exoskeleton, graduate design project Spring 2016
Optimized the design of an exoskeleton limb using SolidWorks, MATLAB and CES EDUPACK to reduce
the power consumption of the servo motors and minimize mass of the framework and shock absorber.
Stress Analysis of crane boom arm of a digger, undergraduate design project Fall 2012
Analyzed forces and stresses to determine the stress concentration points using SOLIDWORKS and ANSYS.
Calculated the displacements and stress at various nodes to optimize the analysis of the boom digger.
Material selection for a light and strong mountain bike spoke, graduate project Fall 2015
Optimized material selection for a mountain bike spoke using CES Edupack software and penalty functions by
prioritizing material indices of properties like mass, fatigue strength and resilience.
