Duties involve preparing datasets from our vast medical data warehouse, for our clients who are primarily doctors, to enable their research. Work involves using SQL and PL/SQL on Oracle and SQL server using Windows to connect to the database. Also set automatic reports using Crystal reports and Infoview.

Duties involve uploading of tables into Oracle databases, working closely with the Analyst, writing queries in SQL, programs in PL/SQL and generating reports for several accounts. Also responsible for setting up of reports so we can generate reports using our in-house report generator.

Created a database and uploaded large tables for a medical database in both MySQL and Oracle, the largest table had almost 800 million records. Did some data cleaning, querying and merging using SQL and PL/SQL. Altered an existing program in PHP to talk to the Oracle database and altered a JavaScript program to display the query results on a web browser. Got familiar with Ajax, JQuery, JSON and more current JavaScript.

Work involved troubleshooting software and hardware problems, upgrading hardware and software and making sure existing software worked on the updated machines. One problem in particular was to do some memory management in order to run memory resident monitoring software along with their accounting software. This was in DOS operating system.

Work involved prototyping using shell scripts, debugging and enhancing a document writer for lawyers (written in C), which allowed communication between a UNIX based host machine and a PC. Ported UNIFY based database program to next version of UNIX. Studied different databases in particular UNIFY, ORACLE and INFORMIX to determine which one would best suit one of our projects.
