WORK EXPERIENCE

Design Engineer July 2014 - July 2015

Beijing Chonglee Service Centre Pvt Ltd., Silvassa, India

Generated detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD Models of Mechanical Structures in CATIA V5R20 and AutoCAD.

Coordinated the DFMEA, CAE and BOM activities with their respective teams.

Designed components needed for installation using CATIA.

Reused waste metal in the project for cost effectiveness decreasing costs by about 8 percent.

Mechanical Engineering Intern Sep 2013 - May 2014

Beijing Chonglee Service Centre Pvt Ltd., Silvassa, India

Prepared floor layout for components to be installed on the shop floor using AutoCAD.

Suggested using different material properties for better strength to weight ratio of the structures.

Increased efficiency of the project through strategizing material procurement and labor requirement.

ACADEMIC PROJECTS

FMVSS 208 Frontal crash impact simulation Sep 2016 - Dec 2016

Identified the capacity of the vehicle structure to absorb crash energy in frontal crash using FMVSS 208 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) and compared the results with NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) requirements.

Compared the severity of crash for full frontal, 40% offset impact with rigid wall and pole adhering to IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) standards in LS-DYNA.

Calculated the HIC (Head Injury Criteria), CSI (Chest Severity Index), Pelvic and other related parameters to dummy and compared them to values specified in FMVSS 208 guidelines.

Used composite materials for structural reinforcements and observed the difference in crumple zone, intrusion due to replacement by composite materials.

FMVSS 216 Roof Crush resistance simulation Sep 2016 - Dec 2016

Conducted Quasi-static roof crush simulation in LS-DYNA based on FMVSS 216 test procedure.

Compared Strength-to-Weight ratio (SWR) of the Finite Element model to test data.

Checked that maximum intrusion due to roof crush was below the maximum specified by FMVSS 216 guidelines.

Used composite materials to improve strength of the roof and allow less intrusion into occupant compartment.

Rectangular filleted bar in tension Sep 2016 - Dec 2016

Modeled the problem in ANSYS using symmetry conditions imposed on the specimen.

Analyzed the Stress Intensity Factor (SIF) at tip of Circular, Elliptical and shoulder cracks.

Compared the values obtained analytically with theoretical calculations using Dugdale and Irwin model.

Simulation of Hertz Contact and Brinell Hardness Test Jan 2016 - Apr 2016

Modeled a sphere on a flat plate to simulate the Hertz contact in HyperMesh and find the initial yield of the material.

Raised the load to simulate the plastic response of material in ABAQUS Explicit.

Iterated with different mesh and element types to obtain the best possible results.

Compared the calculated BHN number of the simulation with the theoretical results.

Observed how the model mesh and element types differ in giving different results of the same model.

Design optimization of Compressor Bracket May 2016 - Aug 2016

Modeled an automobile compressor bracket in CATIA V5R20 according to its dimensions.

Performed Topology Optimization on the bracket using HYPERMESH and HYPERWORKS INSPIRE.

Optimized bracket had 17 percent decreased combined compliance.

Calculation of fatigue life of Flip Chip Package Jan 2016 - Apr 2016

Constructed an axisymmetric model of the flip chip package and meshed it using HYPERMESH.

Compared a cleaned model with model which has voids around all the solder balls.

Observed mesh and element type sensitivity of the model in ABAQUS 2D under thermal loading conditions.

Recorded the decrease in the fatigue life of the uncleaned model as compared to cleaned flip chip packages.

Graduate Research Assistant Sep 2015 - Feb 2016

Setup Data Acquisition system (sensors and DAQ device) on an optical access engine for a project involving measurement of DI spray impingement and film characteristics on the piston surface using refractive index matching method for emission solution.

Worked in a lab environment to compile results from vehicle noise, vibration and acoustics testing and development, DVP&R testing, and review design development of NVH solutions.

Maintain the NVH equipment regarding calibration, function, and software.

Used LabVIEW for data acquisition, and MATLAB to process the data from the optical access engine.

Key Areas: LabVIEW, Data Acquisition, MATLAB, Optical Access Engine, Emissions, Sensors, and Transducers.

Laminate code for Composite laminate design of a Wind turbine blade Sep 2015 - Dec 2015

Developed a hybrid laminate with carbon and glass fiber lamina which would resist high axial loading and edgewise bending moment on a wind blade.

Designed a composite laminate that would not fail at the actual design wind load of 10 m/s.

Developed a Graphic User Interface in MATLAB to analyze the composite laminate for various materials and orientation of the composite laminas.
