OBJECTIVE:
I am looking for a challenging and rewarding position where my medical and practical training will be fully utilized and enhanced. WORK EXPERIENCE:
DeKalb Medical Services- June 2010-to date
Was employed as a Nurse Extern in the Emergency Department as I went through my nursing school. My duties included providing direct patient care, such as, making patients comfortable, providing meals where necessary, taking vital signs, conducting preliminary patient interviews and performing clinical diagnostics such as electrocardiograms. Was assisting in preparing patients for procedures, phlebotomy, as well as collecting other samples such as urine, throat and wound cultures. Did wound irrigations and general wound care, Nasogatric tube insertion and decompressions, tube feeding, and application of various types of splints. Was also starting intra Venus lines and even performing catheter insertion and removal among other things. After graduating from the Nursing School in 2012, was given an opportunity to serve as a nurse in the Emergency Department step down unit where I worked until October 2014 when I transitioned to the ER Department. In the ER, my duties include providing rapid assessment and treatment to patients in the initial phase of illness or trauma and often in life-threatening situations. I do a quick and accurate assessment about incoming patients, which include both physical and mental health conditions. I also liaise with physicians and other professionals to provide care, monitor health conditions, plan long -term care needs, administer medicine, and advice patients and their families on illness, care and continued care after discharge. My duties in the step down unit included monitoring patients’ progress; identifying any changes in status, and acting on those changes to ensure patient comfort and safety. Performing routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age specific and universal precautions at all times. Practicing patient teaching and training for patient and families. Actively demonstrating a working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles, and practice in order to holistically care for the patient. Communicating with all staff, patients, and families with excellent written and verbal skills. Complying with all facility policy and procedures while upholding the expectations of healthcare.
Georgia Medical Resource Pool-February 2015-January 2016
Worked as a travel nurse with Georgia Medical Resource Pool at Gwinnett Medical Centre on a heart failure floor as I continued to work in the ER at DeKalb Medical Centre. In the heart failure floor, I assessed patients, taught new heart failure patients and their families on the disease process, and lifestyle changes and medications and their effects. Liaised with other health providers to plan for patients discharge and after care follow-up, including other services that patients needed like after care physical therapy, home care needs and even heart monitoring for those with severe heart damages.
Mayer Electric Supply Company –June 2003-August 2009
Delivery of electric products from warehouse to various jobs sites as per customer requirements. Warehouse duties included receiving materials. Shipping materials and general housekeeping.
Taking customers inventory and advising on when and what to do to order depending on usage. Served Georgia Power Plants for the last one year in delivering electrical merchandise and controlling the inventory.
