Research experiences
With the Ph.D in biochemistry and many years’ research experiences in different medical labs, I have a full knowledge on molecular biology and pathobiology. I have done research works in many different fields of biology and obtained a lot of research experiences, such as extract DNA, RNA, protein from different animal, plant, or bacteria, DNA cloning and gene transformation, DNA cycle sequencing, real time PCR, Genotyping, genome analysis, protein analysis, DNA-protein binding, microarray, tissue culture, microbial infection, immunofluorescence staining, cell and animal imaging in vivo, etc. I am familiar with different sequencing software, capillary electrophoresis. I took some courses on statistical during PhD study and used statistical analysis during research.
In Louisiana State University, School of Veterinary Medicine (08/2005-03/2008, as a postdoctoral research associate, 05/2011- present, as a research assistant professor), my research focus on Lyme disease, studying how gene change in bacteria can affect its infectivity in animal, including Borrelia strain geome analysis, impotant gene' knock out and completmentation, gene expression analysis. In Texas A&M University, Medical School (04/2008-08/2010, as a postdoctoral research associate), I study Tuberculosis, using in vivo imaging system to detect TB in animal, incuding insert gene probe into TB genome, detect signal in vivo. In The University of Texas, Medical School at Houston (08/2010-04/2011, as a Sr. research assistant), Health Science Center at Houston, Medical School, I did research on gastroschisis, using different methods to detect animal tissue histological change during gastoschisis, such as using different protein antibodies to label and observe change of tissue on microscope.
Teaching experiences
In Louisiana State University, Department of Biology (08/1999-08/2005, as a teaching assistant), I taught General Microbiolgy (BIOL 2051) lab class for 5 years and Basic Biochemistry (BIOL 4087) lab class for one year.
