1. Remote Display using GSM Modem

Description This project is remote notice board with modem connected to it, so if the user wants to display some messages, he will send the messages in SMS format. The modem in the display system will receive the message and update the display according to the message. For every message received from the user mobile, the system will check for the password, and if the password is correct, the controller will display the message Role Worked as a team developer in B.E 8TH SEM

Technologies GSM.(Global system for mobile communication) This GSM Modem can accept any GSM network operator SIM card and act just like a mobile phone with its own unique phone number. Advantage of using this modem is its RS232 port is used to communicate and develop embedded

applications. Applications like SMS Control,data transfer, remote control and logging can be developed easily. The modem can either be connected to PC serial port directly or to any micro controller. It can be used to send and receive SMS or make/receive voice calls. It can also be used in GPRS mode to connect to Internet and do many applications for data logging and control. This GSM modem is a highly flexible plug and play quad band GSM modem for direct and easy integration to RS232 applications.

2. Bandwidth and Power Based Vertical Handoff in 4G Heterogeneous Network Description Vertical handoff may be referred to a process of transferring call connected to a network/data session from one channel connected in a cell to the core network Of another. In this project, we simulate a 4G Network using 2 Gateway or Base stations, 2 wireless routers and numbers of wireless mobile nodes. The nodes essentially communicate to other nodes using base stations. Packets are transmitted and calculation of power loss and bandwidth is done with all connected nodes. If, better bandwidth is available to other connectivity links than the current network, the connection is handover to the other network. Simulation is carried out in Ns2 and results shows that Hand-off process significantly improves the performance of the system by ensuring better packet delivery ratio.

Role Individual project in M. tech fourth SEMESTER Technologies Fourth generation technology.

The major scope of the project is in heterogeneous network. Even though the concept is explained in the concept of the 4G network which is basically a composition of several other networks, the functional concept of a handoff is applicable to any wireless network or group of networks. The system does not need an existing connection to be dropped and re connect rather halts the current communication and bypasses the faulty peer with the one more suitable for current communication. The system is also applicable for hybrid network selection. Even though actual handoff is carried out by first requesting a peer for handoff and getting an acknowledgement, the system is well applicable for systems that perform background or automated handoff without exchanging exclusive handoff packets.
