Production Superintendent Responsible for a three-line shift. Cans, Plastics and Glass
• Implementation of Lean Manufacturing for Can line moving from 3 product changes
Two 11 per shift. Highest point was 21 product changes in 24 hours.
• Train staff for quick change over process; this included filler clean room to packaging equipment from warmer to palletizer.
• Implemented Kanban system allowing for key products to be tracked at the warehouse pull level. This was done by palletizer and forklift operators understanding the Lean FIFO system as taught by this writer. We could adjust our schedule as needed for the four key products at any time or shift without consulting scheduling.
• Set up pull system for raw materials to allow for rapid changes.
• Installed high speed adapters without equipment replacement for faster packaging.
• Reduced dry lube by 70% by training maintenance and floor personnel together to look for issues in real time.
• Implemented a tracking (Andon) board which signaled all floor associates to the position of the shift as to hourly budget. How many cases how much time and what product packaged into what size.

Responsible for importation of equipment with the following drilling companies doing business in Venezuela, and Trinidad: Ensco, Maersk, Nabors, PDVSA (Citgo), Chevron, BP Trinidad, Conoco, Total Fina-Elf, Shell. Supervised staff of over 35 ex-patriots and 60 local supply professionals in two offices in the east and west regions of Venezuela. Specific to removal of all equipment out of country due to Government take overs.

Change Agent for LEAN Implementation and New Equipment Installation
Duels roll food-packaging plant producing paper and plastic products. Producing over 5 MM paper cups per day and 7-MM plastic cups, containers, and lids per day. Use of rigid PVC, PET, PS, HDPE and PP type of plastics. Conducted 5-S, Kaizen’s, implemented Quality Operating System QOS based on Toyoda Business System. Along with Vice President trained whole plant on 13 measurable for success in the LEAN world.
Phased yearlong plant culture change was implemented using many of the following manufacturing methods, 5-S Implementation, Kaizen education, FIFO, Visual Accountability.
Methodology was visual at each manufacturing unit. Verbal training included cultural change to using all LEAN techniques.
Including for paper, Flexo in line with PMC and Komori sheet fed up to six colors. Associated equipment Sugano die cutters, Rennco Packaging units and Bobst Die Cutters.
Plastic printing new line installs included Polytype 8 color, Van Damm 6 Color and several Kase 9 color units. Set up complete graphics department from customer design to final product. Film, Plates, blankets and printer usage. Trained and implemented graphics and print production staff. Complete control of print process in paper and plastic including ink, blanket, and machine old and new selection.
2000 -2001 Independent Sub Contract with Baker Oil Tools Fines Division (Apollo Services) (Country Manager), Venezuela) --- Contract for specific Project
Offshore and inland installations build out for Port of Guillia, Venezuela and Trinidad.
Country Manager reporting directly to President of Apollo Services Lafayette, La. Completed the build out of offshore and inland 49 well drilling program with associated port facilities, transfer stations and crude oil refinery pipelines and refining stations. Completed contract terms and resigned to remove family safely to USA due to 9/11.
1998 - 2000 Carthage Cup Plastics
PRODUCTION MANAGER-LEAN Implementation Manager
initially hired as Plant Superintendent, supervising 24 production lines.
Facility works with Thermoforming & extrusion; seven high-speed offset print process units, manufacturing cups, plates and bowls.
Set up and installed three new Van Damm and Polytype High Speed offset printer Units
Implemented LEAN Road Map developed from Kaizen with Plant Manager and Vice President. Trained production personnel in LEAN techniques using, Kaizen, 5-S and visual Andon tools.
Set up and implementation of complete graphics department to industry standard techniques using full color graphics with up to 9 printer heads
Trained all print personnel including self-contained print shop (Clean Room), from customer delivered graphics files to film, plates and finally onto the thermoformed product.
