Mechanical Engineer, completed Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Specialization in Thermal and Fluid Science, seeking a Full-time opportunity and have a great passion to hone my skills in the fields of:
• Computational Analysis (CFD)/ Fluid Mechanics
• Heat Transfer / Thermodynamics
• Product Design / CAD Design
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
EDUCATION
Master of Science – Mechanical Engineering (Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ) Aug ‘15 - May ‘17
Bachelor of Engineering - Mechanical Engineering (K.J. Somaiya, Mumbai, India) July ‘11 – June ‘15
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
SpaceX Hyperloop Competition II, AZLoop Hyperloop Team, ASU Jan ‘17 – May ‘17
-Numerical Modeling and Simulation Team Member.
-Developed thermal simulations for the secondary compressed air propulsion system (nozzle). Currently carrying out the wind tunnel testing of the prototype for validating results with Ansys simulated aerodynamic drag and lift.
Student Verification Supervisor at Admission Services: Arizona State University Oct ‘16 – May ‘17
-Assist with hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating the student workers. Kept logs and reports; Data entry and update of information in the database of every student using Hyland and PeopleSoft software.
-Review, approve and submit student time sheets to the Payroll Office of 10 students working under my supervision.
Formula SAE - Radiator Design: Jan ’16 – May ‘16
-Re-engineered a radiator for a FSAE car, with a Honda CBR 600cc petrol engine.
-Determined the heat rejected by the engine and created the mathematical model to simulate the test conditions with the help of Matlab for a good mechanical design.
-Calculated the theoretical dimensions of the radiator using the simulation results obtained from Matlab as well as Fluent.
Control of Engine Fine Particulate Matter using Air Cooled Heat Exchanger (H.E.): July ’14 – June ‘15
-Designed and Fabrication a Heat Exchanger to recover heat as well as reduce emissions from exhaust gases using a diesel engine car setup. The heat recovery was 1.4 times more than the conventional heat exchanger.
-Increase in inlet gas temperature decreased the Particulate matter deposition efficiency. But the actual values of deposition efficiency which was 12-15% more than the theoretical values was brought down to 7-8%.
Mukand – Internship (Design and Analysis Engineer), Mumbai, India Summer 2013, Summer 2014 (4 months each)
-Designed and analyzed an efficient piston and connecting rod to reduce the weight as well as increase the heat transfer rate developed from the combustion process inside the chamber.
-Modeled crankshaft to reduce the assembly stresses as well as the bearing and joint load distribution. The stresses were reduced by 5% than the previous models. (Software Used: Solidworks, ANSYS, Fluent)
-Helped R&D department in creating part and assembly design of Double Wishbone Suspension, V6 Engine and Differential.
PROJECTS
Flow Mixing Analysis of Dye into System: (Course: Computational Fluid Dynamics) Jan ’16 – May ‘16
-Simulated the mixing of fluid with dye drops with certain viscosities using the 2D Navier Stokes and Poisson Equation using Adams Bash forth – Crank Nicholson algorithm and V-Cycle Multi-grid method on a staggered mesh using C++.
-Determined fluid velocities using a grid convergence index analysis within 0.1% accuracy.
Wind Tunnel Simulation using ANSYS: Aug ’16 – Dec ‘16
-Analyzed the simulation of air flow over streamlined body geometry such as the Eppler E-423 airfoil for different angle of attacks and different air flow rates.
-Calculated lift coefficient, drag coefficient and pressure coefficient variation over the airfoil.
