Masters of Engineering: Electrical Engineering

Expected graduation: August 2017

Mumbai University (MU)

Bachelors of Engineering: Instrumentation Engineering Graduation date: June 2015

Experience

Sustainability Office, Oregon State University, Corvallis Apr 2016 - Sep 2016 Energy Project Technical Assistant

Computed the energy consumption of 5 buildings on campus and suggested modifications for reduction in energy consumption, ultimately expense per annum on energy usage.

Initiated the practices of include scheduling and trending in building automation systems (BAS). Mooring system for Wave Energy Converter (WEC) June 2016 – Sep 2016

Analyzed the following mooring systems for suitability with WEC: catenary anchor leg, turret, single anchor leg, fixed tower, and tethered.

Tested Single point absorber model in WEC-sim for all the forces acting on the mooring line and tracked the relation between the height of the wave and the force on the line. The movement of the lines with respect to 2 dimensional planes were also observed. Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Mumbai June 2013 - July 2013 Maintenance Intern

Tested and calibrated differential capacitance type pressure gauge and diaphragm type pressure gauges for better accuracy.

Explored the design, working and calculation of various gauges and their specification. Writing center, Oregon State University, Corvallis March 2017 - Present Undergraduate Writing Studio Consultant

Collaborated with students to discuss on a topic and consulted on facts and points that helped them make their report better.

Researched about various articles on studio pedagogy that helped us enhance our work as studio consultants.

Graduate Level Engineering Design Projects

Power flow study

Calculated Power flow for an 8 bus (5 PQ, 2 PV, and 1 slack) using Gauss -Seidel analysis to observe the voltages and power rating at each bus.

Computed the admittance matrix and N-1 contingency for the 8 bus system and verified the results using values obtained from PowerWorld.

Fault analysis for a 5 bus system

Calculated the sub transient fault currents for a bolted line-line fault from phase B to C for all 5 bus to determine the settings for current transformers (CT’s).

Computed the zero, positive, and negative sequence networks and used the matrix calculation method to find admittance matrix which was later verified with results from PowerWorld. Report on blackouts

Examined the root causes of the major blackout that happened in 2006, 2011, 2003 and 1977.

Identified the factors that worked as per the requirement and the factors that did not work well and the Proposed changes made to the system to tackle such situation. Power factor correction using Vienna rectifier

Designed and implemented a unidirectional, three-phase, three-switch, three-level PWM to eliminate input current harmonics.

Successfully ran the inverter with an efficiency of 93%, having a 230V RMS supply and 3KW operating power

Closed loop control loop for a three phase RL load

Controlled the d-axis and q-axis currents by use of command ‘Id’ and ‘Iq’ to control the switching cycle generated by space vector PWM.

Generator angle was used for the purpose of reference frame transformation. Fully differential operational amplifier

Engineered a fully differential amplifier by using a telescopic cascade amplifier with a common source as the second stage amplifier with miller compensation to attain an open loop gain of 100db.

Devised the transistor sizes to achieve a settling time of 75ns, a settling error of 0.01% and closed loop gain of 5.

Mutual Inductance based Lead-Bismuth Eutectic (LBE) level detector

Engineered a level sensor that exploits the property of high temperature Lead-Bismuth Eutectic (LBE) to measure its level

Evaluated the feasibility and working of the design using Comsol obtained plots for key parameters to find the most suitable operating point for high efficiency and the results from simulation were compared to results from the mathematical model created on Matlab.
