Role and Responsibilities: Responsible to the day-to-day operations of a fleet of 158 dry and wet cargo vessels on ships’ personnel: pooling, career advancement, acceptance and hiring of ship’s personnel, deployment, arrangement and control of cash to master (CTM), provisions, wages, health, insurances, family affairs, budget preparation and management of costs, conceptualization and formulation of improvements to the company’s guidelines and instruction manuals. Ensuring all fleet personnel are compliance to various states (countries) and flag requirements of various crew nationalities.

Working directly with 2 Assistant Managers, 4 Senior Executives and various support staff, total of 14 personnel of various nationalities who were directly under my supervision, excluding manning offices from 8 different countries, including from the Philippines.

Achievements:

1.Formulated company manuals that led to company certification with ISO quality standard and TSMA (Tanker Management Self-Assessment) accreditation and acceptance from various oil majors (clients). These three manuals are Instruction to Manning Agents and Offices (ITM), Crew Instruction Manual (CIM), and, Maritime Human Resources Work Instruction Manual (WI). These are detailed procedures and policies of the company for manning agents and offices world-wide, for all the ships personnel, for shore staff who are involved in the crew management. These step-by-step procedural policies are part-form of the company SMS manual.

2.Contributed to the development of company first and the succeeding editions of the Safety Management System (SMS Manual).

3.Conceptualized and formulated a Budget Monitoring Program (Excel) that is currently used by the company. This keeps track of the expenses in every major cost account that are variable in nature.

5.NYK-Fil Ship Management, Inc. – Manila

Role and Responsibilities: Heads the Operations of pooling, hiring, documentation and deployment of ship’s personnel for a total of 150 various type of ships that were manned by the company. These includes luxury passenger ships of the Crystal Cruises and Asuka ships of Japan.

Working directly with 1 Assistant Manager, 4 Chief Documentation Officers and various support staff for a total of 18.

Achievements:

1.Formulated and wrote the first edition of the company procedures and policies for the manning operations that led to the first ISO accreditation and certification of the company.

2.The number of manned ships steadily rose from merely a dozen to more than a hundred.

6.Sea Express Trading and Marine Services – Manila

Role and Responsibilities: In charge of the business operations of the company on warehousing, logistics, delivery of marine chemicals and consumables to the ship clients, documentation and representation of the importations of various marine products and chemicals from overseas (Japan and Singapore).

Achievement: Was able to secure a contract with Drew Ameroid Japan - Regional office in Asia Pacific as sales, warehousing and delivery agent in the Philippines.

Role and Responsibilities: Initiate the acquisition and disposal of company assets and properties of member companies as holding company, and in charge of the repair and maintenance of various company cars, buildings and other corporate properties.

Achievements:

1.Was able to formulate a better system in tracking status of clients’ accounts on the Insurance agency, including an auto-reminder notices for two months prior to expiration of the policy.

2.Was able to complete two major projects in the span of 18 months, i.e., a construction of a commercial 4-storey building in Makati City, and 5 units residential buildings in Las Pinas City.

3.Was able to managed and run a home for the boys (street kids) in Marikina City in coordination with the Cities of Manila and Marikina.

4.Was able to actively assist for the consummation of major purchases and/or leased of various land assets for company’s expansions projects, like the Domino Pizza franchise outlets.
