Avionics Integration and Certification Department: Lead Systems Engineer for updating Honeywell Windshear Alerting and Guidance System (WSS) to comply with FAA Airworthiness Directive 96-02-06. Responsible for overall program effort, schedule, budget and FAA certification (STC) of three hundred LRUs under one TC and fifty-one STCs. Interfaced with FAA (LAACO), airline customers, Honeywell Service Centers and Honeywell Customer Support Engineering to effect a smooth update to the WSS without interrupting airline operations both domestic and foreign.

Additional responsibilities: Coordinating an avionics update program to convert the DC9 Super 80 to an MD-88 equivalent for Midwest Express Airlines using a modification center. The update included replacing analog flight instruments with an electronic display system, adding a low cost navigator system and updating digital flight controls system from single to dual, and supporting FAA certification. Supporting and coordinating a retrofit program to place the WSS on DC9 and MD80 aircraft at Austral Airlines in Argentina. Team member for the development of a documented process for obtaining an FAA STC for Honeywell or other vendor equipment on air transport and business/regional/general aviation aircraft.
