PROJECT WORK EXPERIENCE: 06/2013-06/2017

Durability analysis of the chassis space frame using NCODE durability software 03/2017

Performed fatigue, linear and durability analysis of the chassis space frame using FEM results of NCODE, trouble shooted existing problems, plotted various graphs like Stress vs Strain, Force vs time etc.

Design modifications for chassis space frame to with stand the bending and torsional stress are proposed and achieved. To suggest which type of weld is better on a steering wheel support beam 01/2017

Meshing and analysis of seam and spot welded steering wheel support beam.

Studied stress distribution and displacement, inferred design weaknesses and suggested the better of the above 2 methods. Improvement of natural frequency of a chassis 02/2017

Conducted normal mode analysis of an automotive chassis and found the 3-natural frequency of the system

Improved the natural frequency of the chassis by 1 Hz. Improvement of bending and torsional stiffness 03/2017

Calculated bending and torsional stiffness of an automotive chassis in loading conditions.

Improved bending and torsional stiffness of the automotive chassis by 5%. Design considerations in fracture and fatigue course 01/2016

Conducted Finite Element Analysis to calculate stress-intensity factor of a plate with hole using ANSYS. Vibration frequency of a vehicle roof panel

Spot welded along the edges and calculated lowest frequency and plotted corresponding model shape. Benchmarking and preliminary design specification my target 2021 vehicle 01/2016

Benchmarked luxury sedan segment cars (Merc S550, Audi A8, BMW 750i), listed down the major system and sub system attributes and highlighted remarkable differences in features and capability of the selected models.

Conducted market survey, gathered customer reviews and rating charts for above models and used this data for comparison by Pugh analysis, and proposed an innovative 2021 model year car. QFD, requirement cascade and interface analysis for a vehicle System 02/2016

Successfully incorporated Quality Function Deployment(QFD) chart for translating customer needs into functional specifications for the rear suspension of Audi A8L benchmarked vehicle.

Developed Interface matrix to highlight the information transfer required for the above system, further extended the scope to study the trade-offs associated in developing and designing the system. Business plan, technology plan and conceptual design of the proposed vehicle 03/2016

Prepared detailed business plan involving technical and management resources for the proposed 2021 target vehicle.

Plotted cost and revenue curves and highlighted the key risks, technological challenges, trade-off involved in development of the target vehicle model for vehicle development program. Occupant package design 10/2016

Current production year model cars Hyundai Elantra, Volkswagen Jetta and Honda Civic were chosen for this study. SAE guidelines, static anthropometric data were studied and analyzed few interior dimensions.

Hand sketched vehicle exterior dimensions, SgRP, BOF, AHP, cowl point, deck point, pedal plane angle, steering diameter and angle, entrance height, belt height, centroid of eye ellipse and head clearance following SAE . Vehicle package analysis 12/2016

Conducted study on driver’s direct and indirect field of view (including obstructions and blind areas) by choosing Hyundai Elantra as test model and compared the field of view provided by Ford Focus and Chevy Cruze.

Trade-off considerations related to the packaging issues were described and Thunderstone’s, Analytical Hierarchical method are used to study packaging issues and a detailed report on this study was presented. Research project on engine components 12/2016

Engine components like crankshaft, piston, camshaft and valves were chosen for study and alternative materials and production methods were proposed and this resulted in performance improvement and cost reduction by 8 percent.

Plasma nitriding for crankshaft, powder forging for piston, resin shell process for camshaft and casting for valves are the proposed production processes.

Finite element analysis and material optimization of diesel engine piston 06/2014

Studied von-misses stress, total deformation and heat flux of three different materials by using ANSYS, CAE and CATIA V5 utilizing operating gas pressure, temperature and material properties of piston for analysis.

Suggested composite aluminium silicon carbide over conventional aluminium as it yielded the best result in thermal and structural analysis.

Technical paper 06/2014

Presented a technical paper on “Six Stroke Engine” in the seminar held in Rajarajeswari College of Engineering.

Presented a technical paper on “Wireless Sensor Technology” in the 3 rd

Semester held at U of M Dearborn. 02/2017

.
