Assisted the doctors with what they needed like, restrain the pets for the vet to examine, fetch and sterilize the equipment needed, transport the animals from the front to the back. Prep the animals for surgery by administer the anesthetic and intubate the pet. Draw blood and test samples.

Duties included: At first I was in charge of cleaning and feeding all the reptiles. I made sure they had water, and that their cages were presented nicely. I took care of exotic animals like birds and codimundis. I made sure they were happy and healthy. I also was a sales associate that made sure the customers got the pet that best fit their homes and that they had everything that they needed to care for these pets. Once the pets were picked we would have to fill out pet agreements and file them to keep records. I answered phone calls and assisted disgruntled customers. Helped check dogs in and out of the grooming salon. After August 2011 I bumped down to part time at the pet store to work full time at Tall City Animal Hospital. So once this change was made, on Monday through Friday I would work in the evenings help close the store if needed and to feed clean and medicate (if needed) all the puppies in our care. On Saturdays after the animal hospital I would work half a day in the afternoon helping with sales and closing the store. I have a passion for animals.

Duties included: This was my first job and it was exciting. I was in charge of cleaning and feeding all animals in our care and making sure that their kennels and habitats were presentable. These types of pets ranged from snakes and lizards, puppies and kittens, exotic birds and small animals, codimundis and even the creepy crawlies. I was paid by commission so it was also important for me to learn and gain good communication with the customers. I would help them find the right pet for their home and also help them maintain and care for the pets that were already members of their family. I answered phone calls and used the cash register and counted the drawer at the end of the night. This was my lucky start in the pet care industry and I was able to gain great skills in customer service as well that carried on to the future opportunities.
