In-depth Owner’s Acceptance Review of Turbine Building frame and floor loading evaluation for the movement of the existing and new heaters using large STAAD-PRO computer models. Processed FCNs, processed WOERs. Extensive interface with the project team and the vendors during the planning, design, and implementation phase of the project. Reviewed scope of work, and provided input to Task Authorization Proposals for the work performed by vendor companies (Sargent & Lundy, Westinghouse/PCI, Barnhart Crane Co.).

As a subcontractor consultant, performed initial phase design of critical sections of the Reactor Shield Building Wall, Main Steam Valve Room walls, and Fuel Building hardened shield walls in support of the Design Certification Process for the EPR reactor. Use of ANSYS analysis output and component files for reinforced concrete walls and slab design using controlling load cases. Calculations based on ACI-349 nuclear code for reinforced concrete design. All calculations prepared electronically using Word and Excel.

DOE ETTP Facility: Engineering Consultant – Provided engineering services to BNG America for the dismantlement of K33, K31, and K29 process buildings. Work involved establishing a design basis live load for the three buildings, assessing damaged areas of the floor and recommending load limits for the floor, evaluation of the rolling stock, design of lifting fixtures, crane upgrades including load tests. Involved in the design and construction of the D&D workshop and the Super Compactor facility. Participated in the design and construction of the Uranium Waste Monitor (UWM) facility. Provided engineering support for the dismantlement and transportation of the Super Compactor components involving critical lifts per the ANSI B30.2 code. Provided engineering support for the removal of three large surge tanks from the K29 building.

Watts Bar Nuclear Plant: Structural Engineer – Stress analysis, per the ASME Class 2 requirements, of valve bonnet pressure relief lines for the Safety Injection and Containment Spray systems using TPIPE modeling. Extensive use of GTSTRUDL, BASEPLATE-II, CONAN, FAPPS programs. Performed evaluation of piping stresses per the ASME Section III requirements for the effect of erosion/corrosion on wall thinning based on TPIPE analysis. Evaluated local stresses in pipe wall using GTSTRUDL finite element models.

Portsmouth and Paducah Plants: Structural Engineer - Performed Natural Phenomena Hazards (NPH) analysis of DOE Process Buildings in accordance with UCRL-15910 and the ASCE 4-86 and ASCE 4-88 standards. Extensive use of large GTSTRUDL models to perform dead weight, wind, and seismic response spectra and time history analysis. The process buildings involved in the study were X-326, X-330, X-333, and C-331/C-335.
Polk Unit 1 Fossil Plant for Tampa Electric: Task Engineer - Prepared complete structural design for the Brine Concentration System supplied by Aqua-Chem. Prepared STAAD-III model to design the main tower structure for the evaporator and the separator.
IT-Picattinny Project: Task Engineer - Used STAAD-III finite element models to design and analyze stainless steel tanks on stilts for the storage of explosive slurry.
Bethel Valley Low Level Waste Project: Civil Engineer - Prepared revision to the life cycle baseline documents for the clean-up effort of various work area groups (WAGs) for the Oak Ridge sites. Provided technical support to Martin Marietta Energy Systems during the construction of the MCS and TWRF structures.
South Holston Dam: Structural Engineer - Designed rig-up structures for the Butterfly Valve Replacement. Performed design of the monorail upgrades and access platforms for the Allen Steam Plant for the Coal Bunker Rehabilitation Project. Extensive use of STAAD-III models.
Johnsonville Cogeneration Plant: Designed mat foundations for the plate settler and other equipment.
Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant: Structural Engineer - Seismic qualification of Unit 2, drywell platform steel. Analyzed connections and code checked members including torsion stresses to the requirements of AISC code. Extensive use of large GTSRUDL models.
