LABORATORY TECHNICIAN ASSISTANT NORTHSIDE HOSPITAL 2006-2014
Serve patients in a 500 bed hospital. Specialized in labor and deliveries. Performed venipunctures and collection of blood. Screened and cross-matched for possible c-sections. Also provided service to patients of all other specialties. Speed and accuracy were most important because of the emergency nature of most labor delivery.
PHLEBOTOMIST ST. JOSEPH’S HOSPITAL 2004-PRESENT
Served patients within a 350 bed hospital specializing in cardiology and open-heart surgeries by performing venipuncture and collection of blood specimens, most commonly for cardiac enzymes and blood cultures for pre-operative and post-operative patients. Expert demonstration and long-term experience in various venipuncture techniques were of outmost importance owing to use of dopamine in these patients, a drug which pools most circulating blood towards vital organs away from peripheral vessels.
SUBSTITUTE TEACHER COBB COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT 2006-PRESENT
Served as a substitute teacher for kindergarten through twelfth grade special needs students. Followed detailed lesson plan left by teachers. Working with special needs students can be a challenge, but was very rewarding as well.

Served patients by performing venipunctures and collecting other bodily specimens for doctors’ offices. Communicated with physicians regarding specific instruction deviating from normal standard prescriptions. Centrifuged, transferred, stabilized and distributed blood specimen to appropriate workstations. Performed all appropriate computer-related functions such as ordering and logging in insurance information. Resolved client inquiries as they occurred. Researched and reported monthly data regarding number of clients served. Maintained cleanliness and order of lab, workstations and exam rooms.
PHLEBOTOMIST CLINICAL IMMUNO-DIAGNOSTIC, SACRAMENTO, CA 1999-2000
Assisted nurses with setting up for tests and assisted in specific protocol procedures. Performed venipunctures and skin punctures for blood collection. Prepared all specimens received for testing in designated laboratory departments. Prepared and packaged specimens to be sent out to reference laboratory. Assisted in the search for misplaced samples or lost specimens. Maintained standard for production for speed and accuracy performing basic log functions including split requisitions. Ordered and maintained adequate laboratory supplies. Maintained the cleanliness and order of lab, workstations and exam rooms.
