EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
I have been a Lead Electronic Technician / Supervisor for several years. I have lead a team highly skilled and professional technicians. For the past seven years, I have been responsible for the day to day operations in the transportation business. Every day, my team and I were responsible for the safety of over 35,000 passengers that commuted by way of a train system. Safety was our number one goal. My job was to make sure that each and every train was PM (preventive maintenance) correctly before putting them into service. Although my technicians did the pm, it was my responsibility to give the final inspection. This train system is located at the world’s busiest airport, Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport.
My team and I were responsible for all the maintenance to the trains and the train system, which includes changing the tires on the train, troubleshooting all the electronics on the train to totally rebuilding the trains.
My team and I were also responsible for all the track maintenance, which included working on switches and the power rails, in which were powered by 750 DC.
My team and I was also responsible for all the maintenance of the PDS (power distribution system) which Georgia Power supplied 19.8k of AC to our PDS which was then broken down by our transformers.
I was also responsible for several projects. I have written several training manuals.
My biggest project was the Signaling Project. This project took me about a year and a half to complete. It consisted of electronically knowing exactly of the trains locations to prevent derailments. At any one time, there could be up to five trains on the system.
I was also a CCO (central control operator). A central control operator is responsible for all the trains movements. It is just like being an Air Traffic Controller, the only difference is that they are Plaines and trains but the jobs duties are basically the same.
I designed a jogger tray while working for Harland, which is the largest check printing company in the world. Harland has many facilities throughout the United States, Porto Rico and Canada. My design saved Harland about 20 hours a month, which equaled about 240 hours of down time per year at one facility, which saved that facility thousands of dollars per year. Harland was so impressed with my new design and the money that they were saving, that they implemented my new design into all their facilities which is now saving the organization hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.
