ADB-SAFEGATE, Columbus, Ohio (1996 – 2016)

Leading multinational organization with global facilities located in in Brussels, Columbus, Montreal and China generating revenues of $500 million with 150 employees at Columbus site. SENIOR APPLICATIONS ENGINEER (2008 – 2016)

APPLICATIONS ENGINEER (2003 – 2008) SOFTWARE ENGINEER (1996 – 2003) Initiated career by developing and coding applications, and transitioning into applications engineering via project management. Involved in configuring, installing and completing approximately 40 projects annually, frequently traveling to customers to install new or updated software/systems and train as many as 15 customers simultaneously. Consistently gave input on project proposal budgets, specifically advising colleagues and management on time and equipment requirements for networked Airfield Lighting & Control System (ALCS). Completed build-outs of computers, loading proprietary software/hardware into units and testing networked computers with Project Managers and Airport Representatives. Leveraged technical ALCS systems operation expertise to train customers on utilization. Encompassed: (1) interfacing with project manager, contractor and customer to define requirements, (2) programming and configuring proprietary software and hardware, (3) testing project both virtually and with actual hardware, and (4) installing project at actual site or support on-site technician(s). Following installation of new systems, promoted updates to equipment, software and hardware to secure maintenance contracts. Presented benefits of needed updates to airport maintenance personnel and department heads, often resulting in replacement of entire systems. Span of daily activities encompassed working on numerous projects. Helped Field Service/Airport Representatives resolve airport installation/operation issues, advising airport maintenance personnel on systems’ best practices and collaborating with project engineers to bid or design airfield lighting system.

• Supported multi-dollar ALCS system initiatives, working with contractors and airports to install and test systems, gaining ultimate approval by FAA and airport authorities, followed by training FAA and airport personnel.

• Improved ALCS system reliability and performance, while lowering costs, by heading all software release beta tests, and testing new hardware, all of which introduced new functionality. Included (but not limited to) computers/ operating systems, UPSs’, NICs’, switches, routers, RF communication equipment, PLCs, fiber and fiber drivers/connectors, and proprietary corporate hardware.

• Helped develop, implement and manage employer’s ISO 9000 Quality Program – responsible for increasing bottom line by winning numerous projects. Played instrumental role in devising new ALCS system features. Wrote department ISO 9001 quality documents and operations procedures, trained and served as ISO 9000 Quality Auditor.

• Reduced system setup time – by recommending improvements to company’s configuration application – devising new software storage structure of installed software at airports. Additionally, developed and tested new data gathering application which deployed and verified proprietary software and trained colleagues on its use.

• Formulated C and C++ modules for real-time, computer-based, networked ALCS systems, also using C to configure and integrate new features within ADB Generation 1 and 2 ALCS Systems.

• Cut company costs across numerous initiatives and projects over tenure. Involved leading design of more efficient systems and implementing less costly hardware, maximizing system productivity with new system configurations, modifying installation processes and improving system setup and testing procedures.

• Project leadership that enhanced client satisfaction while ensuring that company equipment, cost and delivery objectives were met.

• Advised upper management on repair or design modifications – based upon such key factors as environment, service, cost and system capabilities – after evaluating operational systems.

• Verified product/system conformance to specifications, safety standards, and all applicable codes and regulations. Performed series of comprehensive operational, maintenance, and testing procedures covering system electronics and components.

• Configured, validated, deployed and tested commercially available and proprietary industrial control system software configurations, documenting and managing all specifications within archival management system. MEGGITT AIRCRAFT BRAKING SYSTEMS, Akron, Ohio (1981 – 1996) Major supplier of aircraft brakes, anti-skid, brake-by-wire and temperature monitoring systems, with 650 employees. ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Developed anti-skid/brake-by-wire systems for aircraft. Contributed to hardware and software development and software testing for flight safety equipment in alignment with MIL-STD-461 and RTCA DO-160 requirements. Software consisted of assembly and C module dedicated software components in embedded, real-time generated operating environment – sold to global airframe manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus. Served as point-of- contact, coordinating, tracking and addressing customer product development inquiries.

• Corporate representative for iron bird integration testing with Saab for JAS-39 fighter program, serving as EM Product Specialist, directing EM protection design and EM testing spanning numerous in-house and external facility locations to provide the RF/EMI/EMP testing environments.

• Played key role in multi-million dollar B-2, F-16, G4, EMBRAER, and C-17 projects. Wrote and tested software, modifying until performance data matched client specifications.

• Devised and designed multi-function hybrid chip used on all anti-skid boards. Created related software and hardware that improved anti-skid system operation, and acting in technical support capacity for chip.

• Integrated development cycles – in order to better align with manufacturing and procurement practices – assessing vendor engineering capability for meeting specified quality and performance criteria.

• Documented comparative engineering analysis – of product requirements and manufacturing capabilities – evaluating need for potential internal customization of products and cost of external outsourcing. EARLY CAREER

Software Development Engineer, Allen Bradley Company (Rockwell Automation) Highland Heights, Ohio (June 1979 – October 1981)
