IT Risk Manager - PMO

Reporting to the CIO office as IT Risk and Controls Consultant I am responsible for providing continuous independent assurance on the bank’s IT Information and Security Governance with regards to confidentiality, integrity and availability of the IT application and infrastructure, processing systems and related resources in line with the Information Security Policies.

Head of Information Technology - Continental Europe and the Middle East

Director of Information Systems for Nomura’s regional offices in Continental Europe and the Middle East, reporting directly to the EMEA CIO and Co-Global Head of Infrastructures. Most recently, in charge of a budget worth $20 million as regards operating costs with additional budget for special projects sponsored by various departments. Managed a group consisting of 24 engineers, based in 21 offices in 19 different countries, supporting about 500 users. Directly involved in constructing new offices, managing numerous data centres to safeguard efficient and reliable services. As Head of Information Services, was directly in charge of aspects associated with BCP / DR, Audit, Compliance, Security and Application (both Business and Corporate). Guaranteed excellent quality of service matched by lower operating costs year after year by applying my skills in the management of resources, suppliers, projects and financial aspects.

Key achievements:

Business & Technology Integration (2008-2010) - As a result of Nomura’s takeover of Lehman Brothers operations after its collapse, it was vital to achieve the rapid integration of the two businesses both in terms of their offices (people and infrastructures) and applications. Relocated over 12 offices and data centres in less than 20 months, reducing technology spending by 40% and achieving additional savings in overheads and operating costs. Delivered the required results with zero error and no user down time thanks to optimum project planning and implementation.

New office in Dubai (2005-2006) - assigned the remit of IT project manager for this challenging and very interesting project. Successfully delivered a working office in 10 months with a budget of $1.2m. The project demanded considerable presence on site in Dubai in order to build and maintain relationships with local contractors and vendors.

Euro Conversion & Millennium Bug (1998-2000) – In charge of the implementation of these projects in Milan, as part of a global team coordinating execution “around the clock”. Successfully created a vast network of contacts in London, New York and many other countries, working 24 hours a day over the New Year period.

Project Leader – System and Security Administrator

Initially assigned to the R&D department at BULL with the remit of developing a new version of the UNIX “init” process compatible with BULL hardware. Bull subsequently decided to relocate its research operations to Grenoble. Subsequently assigned the role of Project Leader working on Joint Ventures and then the role of Migration Delivery Manager.

Migration Delivery Manager (1995-1998) - Responsible for customer migration from proprietary Servers to UNIX environments. Successfully managed the migration from GCOS4 to DPX/2 for Fagioli, a leading transport company, supported by my assigned team. The customers supported included: Politecnico di Milano, Faba, La Spezia LHA, Arti Grafiche Bergamo.

Project Leader (1988 - 1995) – involved in many different areas of the UNIX operating system as a result of the know how acquired in R&D. Initially focused on the main process known as “init” with the remit of adapting the code for BULL’s new multiprocessor server (DPX/2). Subsequently worked in the graphics department in order to test, modify and sign off the usage graphic protocols (X11R5, Motif 1.2 and NCD). This led to the subsequent role in security, working on C2 and B1 security levels, taking part in the Minerva project sponsored by NATO. Most recently appointed the position of Software and Firmware Release Manager for coordination of delivery to production lines.
