Pratt & Whitney Canada– Customer support Design Jobs

As IPT member responsible for all design jobs executed by Cyient supporting Compressor, Mechanical and external modules of Pratt & Whitney Canada engines

Lead Integrated product teams on engineering design jobs / issues related to design/ manufacturing / quality/ resourcing in Production, Overhaul & Field engines of Pratt & Whitney Canada

Executing various types of Engineering Changes Class I, Class II design jobs related to multiple PWC engine programs

Responsible to create novel and fundamentally sound designs, and co-ordinate with specialist departments including Analytical Engineering Groups, Advanced Manufacturing, Cost and Weight Departments, etc. to ensure that the design definition meets all targets in the required time scale.

The design definition includes all fits, clearances, wall thicknesses, special tightening torques and assembly procedures, critical dimensions and KPC's (when applicable), notes concerning construction, materials, surface and heat treatments, special material removal processes, necessary to define the design intent.

Responsibilities included creating and executing timelines, creating and updating models and drawings of medical devices, supporting management, working with manufacturing plants and vendors, and suppliers, creating purchase requisitions.

Co-ordinate with Onsite co-coordinator, Med Tech focal and responsible for Project planning, Kick-off meetings and Project management activities of design jobs executed at offshore.

Prepare, define & maintain responsibility matrices for Med Tech offshore design team.

Monitor & Track billing invoices generated for each independent design jobs.

Create & maintain training plans for newly joined team members.

Responsibilities:

United Technologies Aerospace Systems – Slat Actuator Design

Study of kinematics involved in Actuation system along with importance for actuation on an aircraft wing.

Worked on creation, modification, analysis and optimization of design for various Actuation components, using NX Unigraphics 7.5. Developed production drawings that detail the manufacturing and assembly of products.

Worked with suppliers to develop and validate designs for functional performance, manufacturing feasibility and quality.

Provide technical presentations. Conduct Design Reviews.

D&D Bus Power Control Unit, 3 MCU(BPCU) & Over Voltage Protection Control Unit, 2 MCU (OPU)

Development of Mechanical concepts for Packaging BPCU and OPU. Design includes development of all wire harness applications and enclosure which can with stand Environmental condition and EMI/EMC as per DO-160 standard and size as per ARINC 600 (Modular Concept Unit).

Involves study of Electrical components behaviour under Shock vibration and heat dissipation. Development of concept. Creating 3d models and producing production drawing as per ASME Y14.5 1994.

Academic Projects:

Dynamic Analysis of Filiform Hair and Socket Assembly of Cricket

Studied the structure of filiform hair and socket assembly of cricket. Performed the modeling and analysis of the assembly in ANSYS APDL.

Static and transient analysis are performed to study the dynamic response of the socket, where the characterized mechanical principles can be used to create high MEMS sensors.

Fabrication and Functioning of 3D printer

Designed and developed a portable 3D printer. Successfully made model prints with 0.3mm thickness from ABS plastic which were close to the industry quality.

This was achieved within a very low budget of just under $300.

Design and Manufacture of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle,

Designed and fabricated a fully functional, portable, compact, light-weight tele-operated aerial vehicle. Selected materials like Styrofoam that is light weight and designed a collapsible wing mechanism, fuselage and airframe.

Performed 3D modelling and animation, static/dynamic load analysis and NACA air foil calculations. Implemented new manufacturing techniques like Hot wire cutting for making the wing from Styrofoam.

Construction and Working of a Hovercraft

Data collection, calculation of required thrust and drag forces, selection of proper material Capacity calculations, Scantling calculations using IRS Rules-2012.

Structural Drawing and Weight estimation, Stability Calculations, Rudder and Propeller design.
