Field Service Engineer

As the northeast Field Service Engineer for Edwards Vacuum based out of Albany, NY I support Edwards Vacuum Pumps & Abatement/combustion equipment at several local major semiconductor facilities such as Global Foundries, Albany College of Nanoscale Science & Engineering and IBM Center Fishkill NY. Also sites globally from Europe to Asia with support, troubleshooting and commissioning, tuning, helium leak check, wire/test 24v, discrete/analog interfacing signals with fab tool equipment. Tuning abatement combustor, setting residual oxygen, O2/methane injects for abatement of deadly gases used in the process recipe of the manufacturing semiconductors. Support the site process engineers, tool manufacturer’s reps & site personnel to test all networking signals are wired correctly & working and EMO shut down are tested & satisfactory. Install/program software upgrades to CPU & HMI on our equipment & make adjustments for correct handshaking with corresponding process tool software. Pull data logs using interface for failure analysis. Troubleshoot, wire & install all electrical/electro-mechanical items ranging from 24v, 4-20MA, 120, 208 & 480 voltages, fuel train, O2 train and H2O. Set up abatement unit utilities & vacuum pump utilities which combined consist of Nitrogen, Methane, water & electrical. Install conduit, pull/land wire & test all control components & tune combustor for correct analytical readings. Complete training classes and assist with manual reforms and editing.

Instrumentation & Controls Specialist

Initially I attended a training program which consisted of the completion of Siemens online courses, basics of electricity, control components, basics of plc.’s and basics of AC/ DC drives. Then company required training in theory of thermodynamics/ pneumatics, hydraulics, sensor usage, actuator mechanics and networking basics. Perform boiler installation, calibrations, wiring and testing on RTD's, thermocouples, transmitters, sensors, actuators, pressure switches & all instrumentation/control components on the boiler/combustor. Pull wire, install conduit and work with 120, 208, & 480 voltages as well as 4-20MA, Pulse signals & 0-10V. Diagnose & calibrate boiler monitoring transmitters using heart 275 & 375 communication equipment. Work with control software BMS, CCM, DCS, BOP and fireye flame monitoring system. Build custom control panels per schematic drawings for CHX units or any configuration a customer would like. Set up parameters on several different controllers including Allen Bradley & Siemens S series. Set up PID loops in boiler controller’s configuration systems. Run conduit and tray cable for new & upgraded equipment & control rooms.

Customer Service Engineer

To work with customers on their robotic work cell initial startup & train them on operation, install & troubleshooting their specific unit. These are XYZWD axis, fluid dispensing valve, robotic arms that are used to apply generally adhesives on industry equipment in the field of solar, semiconductor, packaging, printed circuit boards, medical devices and consumer electronics. Also assist in building all units which involve pneumatics, actuators, motors AC/DC, stepper drives, VFD’s, camera controls, transformers, control panel wiring, and proximity/ fiber optic sensors.

Responsibilities also include performing hourly, daily, and weekly quality inspections of all part produced to ensure they meet and exceed all set standards / specifications & have daily meetings with employees to provide direction & expectations for the day & week.
