Over twenty years engineering experience supporting Merck manufacturing site. Held various positions of increasing responsibility with a consistent focus on production, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. Throughout my career at Merck I contributed to process improvements. Some unit operations I have experience with are: ion exchange, filtration, centrifugation, fermentation, batch reaction, continuous reaction, distillation, vacuum, steam jets, drying, milling, and purification. I have extensive background in sterile manufacturing and sterile environment facilities, including production supervisor. Helped with start-up, SOP creation, and validation of new Merck antibiotic and a toll manufactured antibiotic. Project Engineer administrative responsibilities included reviewing, designing, selecting, estimating, funding, purchasing, developing bid packages, awarding contracts, installing, starting up, and troubleshooting. Budget control, schedule coordination, and accurate documentation were key responsibilities. Project deliverables to the site included drawings, calibrations, and maintenance recommendations.

Assigned CPC classification symbols for diverse subject matter ranging from fuel cells to wireless power to surgical devices to food technology. Reviewed project scope and related CPC destination groups for projects as they were released to us from the USPTO, submitted clarification questions to USPTO and developed departmental guidance. Performed quality review and training as needed for department. Adjudicated USPTO results. Assured quality and production targets were met. This built on my previous experience of 9 years at Serco performing patent classification.
