COVER LETTER

My name is Gene Zompa. I live in New Hyde Park on Long Island, next to the Queens border, with my wife and daughter.

I worked as the senior auditor/accountant and office manager for a private family investment firm in Midtown, Humes-Schmidlapp Associates (HSA). HSA's clients were exclusively wealthy families. I handled the day to day operations, including accumulating the data necessary to make investment decisions. I utilized the specific identification method of security costing in assigning the cost basis of securities sold; instead of FIFO or LIFO. Our auditors, PricewaterhouseCoppers (PWC), approved of my method on the basis of consistency. This gave our firm the latitude necessary to minimize capital gains taxes, which, in turn, minimized our partners' tax exposure. We invested for long-term capital appreciation, and kept an adequate amount of capital invested in short-term instruments for the partners' day to day expenses. My responsibilities included the review of all incoming information including legal, financial, accounting, auditing, and taxes (individual, partnership, not-for-profit, and Sub S Corp.) in order to give my opinions on these matters to the President and Vice President of HSA. The President and Vice President were able to make their decisions based upon my interpretations and recommendations on the influx of information coming into our office on a daily basis.

I began my work day by executing the purchase and sales orders of securities, as outlined by our President and Vice-President, with our brokers and banks.

I took these daily purchase and sales orders from A to Z in making sure of all of the trades were finalized and 100% accurate.

I reconciled, to the penny, every aspect of each trade. I verified the numbers with our brokers and our bank's custody department, and I audited the numbers through their settlement dates and to banks’ and brokers' daily statements.

I set up various schedules summarizing all of the day's activity. My reports incorporated various analyses showing market to market as well as market to cost.

When I began my career at HSA, the weekly reconciliation process, then in effect, took 3 hours. I was able to eventually cut the time down to 15 minutes. I turned our weekly report into a daily reconciling report. The accumulated reports were then automatically summarized on an annual basis for our auditors and tax accountants at year-end.

One of my reports was what I referred to as the "history report". This all-encompassing report started with the beginning balances of the number of shares, the cost basis, and the schedule's beginning market value and unrealized g/l. Next, the purchases, sales, stock splits/dividends, spin-offs, etc. Then the realized g/l on securities sold. Finally, the ending balances of all the positions with the schedule's ending market value indicating the unrealized g/l as of that ending date.

Unfortunately, HSA went out of business after 51 years.

Based upon your requirements and my background, I am more than up to the task for the open position. I create excel spreadsheets that not only get the job done, but the end results are such that even a lay person can understand and follow them. Basically, the lay people included the President and Vice President of Humes-Schmidlapp Associates (HSA), as well as HSA's clients and partners. Our auditors, PWC, used my spreadsheets to put together HSA's audits and tax returns. In fact, my schedules practically were the finished products. PWC reviewed my reports and tax returns, then put them on their own letterhead and forms, as the finalized product. Excel is part of what I enjoy and do best. I like working with numbers, and I am very good at it. It's easier to be good at something, if you like what you're doing.

I am more than meticulous enough to get the job done successfully, in the time constraints necessary, in order to start the next task with the same degree of purpose, interest and success. My aim is also to improve upon established time parameters, leaving more time to improve the bottom line by attending to more projects efficiently.

I ask for the privilege and opportunity to meet with you in person, or via phone or email, to give you all the additional information you require.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Respectfully,

Gene Zompa 516-***-**** (home) 516-***-**** (cell)
