USMC TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH GROUP (TRG)

Review, edit, and revise training and education products created by the USMC Translational Research Group (TRG). TRG combines the rigor of scholarly work with the focus of the USMC Training and Education Command (TECOM) on utility normally found in applied work. TRG research is characterized by tight coordination between scholars and Marines during research design, execution, and outcomes. TRG’s translational researchers conduct rigorous, peer-reviewed translational research in support of Marine Corps missions and requirements; build long-term capacity for the integration of social and behavioral science in problem-solving across USMC; and support TRG’s training, education, and deployed support functions. Over 90 percent of the TRG content is text-based material, the remaining content -- tailored and edited by Mr. Kennedy -- is video (edited with Adobe Premiere), images (edited with Adobe Photoshop), and graphics.

The end-products, entitled “Lincoln Talks,” are broadcast-quality, 11-minute videos that summarize complex national security policies. Each “Lincoln Talk” is delivered by the author via on-demand secure-link. Supported NDU chief information officer’s (CIO’s) emergency strategic communications program: a campus-wide cyber security training effort directed at administrators, faculty and staff at NDU’s five graduate schools in Washington, Norfolk and Fort Bragg. Additionally, supervised the production of dozens of distance-learning training products for NDU’s College of International Affairs, Information Resources Management College, Joint Staff Management College, and National War College. As of late 2015, managed video production teams (camera operators, sound technician, Tel-R-Prompter operator, post-production editor, computer-generated animation specialist, et cetera) that “surge” with six additional contracted members five technical crew, one make-up specialist) on the day when a “Lincoln Talk” is recorded before a “live” studio audience. End-products (viewable via a secure network) were modeled on popular "TED Talks" (see www.TED.com).
For RCLF/USMC, supervised a team of twenty-two (22) SMEs and CBTs.
