Ossia is the world premiere remote wireless power company. Ossia’s COTA Technology, in addition to its wireless power aspect, is an enabling platform for IoT.

As the VP of Solutions, I lead the Solutions organizations is a global organization that focuses on software / firmware in the following areas: Embedded Development, Mobile, Cloud, Big Data, AI, Deep Learning and IoT.

This is in addition to actively participating in the activities related to Ossia’s strategy, planning, governance, fund raising, and promotion, including working with customers and potential partners.

Some of my major accomplishments are:

Led both the Solutions (software) and Engineering (hardware) organizations in the second half of 2016 to deliver the next generation of the COTA technology including the new ceiling tile form-factor. We won the CES 2017 Innovation Award, in addition to being reported on in multiple media outlets, including Time Magazine under “Big Idea”.

Led the Roadmap development and implementation of COTA’s E2E IoT SaaS Platform which spans COTA firmware, Devices, Edge Computing, Big Data (Spark, HBase, flume Kafka, MongoDB, etc.), Cloud, Predictive Analytics & Deep Learning (Tensorflow, Keras). The Implementation includes intelligent charging prioritization, RF Sense, Dynamic Thresholds, Proactive Maintenance, Intelligent RF Control & Image Processing. The implementation leverages micro services and containers (Docker).

Implemented COTA Machine Learning platform (classification, clustering, regression, collaborative filtering) including deep learning (neural networks).

Delivered and architected multiple generations of the COTA technology, enterprise systems, automation and cloud, mobile and AI solutions.

Led a consulting team in implementing Skype's Big Data pipeline on Azure, Hive, and implementation of Microsoft BI tools and Data Visualization. Seattle Avionic VP of Engineering Jan 2012 – Dec 2013

Established the organizational structure needed to achieve the targeted phase for 2012 and to deliver on several small to medium sized projects for large customers such as AOPA. This included establishing the Project Management (Agile based), Development, Test and Release disciplines, in addition hiring resources (internal, contract and offshore), managing budget, and the setup of required infrastructure.

Some of my major accomplishments were:

Successfully planned and led the development and architecture of the Seattle Avionics iOS and cloud Mobile Aviation Platform which spans the cloud and the device, and includes a mapping engine, 3D, Location Services, Flight Planning, Connectivity with third party-devices via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and subscription and API integration with other services. This platform was used in the development of several products at SAS.

Delivered the FlyQ app to both iOS AppStore and Google Play store, in addition to multiple major EFB products for Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association (AOPA) on both iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android devices. This was done in a SCRUM environment with multiple sprints

Deployed Cloudera’s Hadoop Distribution (CDH4) on AWS and MS/Hortonworks Distribution on Widows (HDInsight) as part of work on the next generation of the platform. Some aspects of the implementations and POCs are:

ousing Map / Reduce to optimize flight planning calculation,

oLeveraging Mahout capabilities to build a recommendation engine, and for classification, forecasting using linear regression, and analysis of streaming data for more real-time results, in addition to Sentiment Analysis.

oThese systems leverage Map/Reduce, Hive, Impala, Flume, Lucene/SOLR, HBase, in addition to Mahout and Giraph. Some of the algorithms implemented are Naïve Bayes, Linear and Logistic Regression, Pearson’s Correlation, NLP, TF/IDF, etc.

oProgramming includes Java, R, C#, and Python.

Microsoft Principal Development Manager / Director Mar 2010 – Nov 2011

Led Microsoft’s OEM B2B platform team. It was a large global development team in Redmond and India which included managers, leads & ICs, architects, middle-tier, database and build & deployment professionals. Our systems process $20 billion revenue through the OEM channel.

Some of my major accomplishments were:

Successfully planned and led the development of the new platform for OEM IT which is based on SOA principles and implements the most advanced Microsoft technologies. The new platform integrates with backend systems such as SAP and Windows activation systems, in addition to interfacing with OEM partner systems, and provides easy to use BI reports and tools.

Achieved a 12-point improvement team members’ morale as measured in the Work Health Index for my organization at Microsoft.

Achieved significant improvements in Automation, Unit Test Automation & Coverage (and other best practices & efficiencies), and organizational alignments.

Successfully managed several cutting edge PoCs (AZURE - PaaS / Cloud / AppFabric, MS SynC Framework, .NET Parallel processing, BI, Pex & Moles, etc.)

GE Healthcare Sr. Software Engineering Manager Aug 2007 – Feb 2010

Led the Technical Infrastructure Group of the GE Centricity Enterprise (CE) integrated clinical / financial product built on the Tandem platform.

Extended product’s capabilities by integrating third-party products.

Managed both Development and Quality Assurance resources in globally distributed team.

Streamlined and transformed a number of areas including deployment in OSS and standards development.

ADGAS / ARAMCO Sr. Software Development Manager Oct 2004 – July 2007

Managed the Microsoft technology group, leading objectives such as achieving CMM Level 3 within 2 years through the adopted the Microsoft Solutions Framework, agile methodologies such as SCRUM, in addition to implementing Team Foundation Server.

Some of my major accomplishments were:

Architected and led development of e-Bidding system, including integration with SAP via BizTalk and implementing a BPM workflow and laid foundation for SOA at the organization.

Led the development and architecture of the Tanker Vetting System project that automated the admission of tankers into Aramco’s ports. The project reduced the processing time from an average of 60 minutes to an average of 3 minutes.

Stellcom / Verilet Software Development Manager Sep 2000 – Feb 2002

Managed projects as a Stellcom consultant developing software for an interactive pharmacy system for Verilet.

Oversaw project budget, WBS and resource planning.

Continued as Software Development Manager after moving to Verilet, conducting development work and other projects.

Managed a group creating a Stellcom mobility platform based on Microsoft.NET, developing messaging components enabling the application to push SMS / SMTP notifications to end users.

Pioneered .NET SOAP Web service providing information on drug interactions and formularies.

Gateway Software Development Manager Sep 1999 – Sep 2000

Managed the Ecommerce Development group (15 to 25 developers) with responsibilities for gateway.com, Gateway Extranet and other initiatives.
