After reviewing the analyst job I am certain that I am a perfect fit for that position and would be a valuable asset to your company. From an early age I have enjoyed Math and numbers and have at times been accused of being a little obsessive about details. I prefer to say that I am a detail oriented individual who looks at problems beyond the surface who is committed to getting things right. As a young student I also tinkered with creating small mechanical devices at my desk while simultaneously soaking in the material and earning A’s: Multitasking is one of my strong suits as well as using whatever is at my hands to get results.
Upon acceptance to the University of Florida I decided to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics despite warnings that I may not make it as a woman in a field dominated by men. But my love of Math was stronger than any fears or reservations and I took a leap of faith - and I have never looked back. I have found all the men and women in my journey through that intensive program have been encouraging and I developed skills such as perseverance, communication, and a solid work ethic. These skills helped me successfully transfer into the workplace and eventually become a Math teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools.
I have enjoyed sharing my passion of Math to middle school students in a fun and hands on manner with the hopes that some of my students may choose a career in Math or Engineering. One of my favorite units to teach is statistics, where I teach students how to analyze various models of data presentation and present solutions. And when not in the classroom I spend at least 3 hours a week of my own time analyzing tables and charts of my student data in order to plan lessons. I make predictions and data driven decisions, as well as on the spot situational decisions, on a daily basis. I am pleased to say all of my efforts, and my students hard work, have culminated in a 100% pass rate on SOLs.
I have also demonstrated leadership skills by volunteering to head the Math 7 Honors collaborative learning team. I rarely miss days because I feel responsible – and I obsess that missing just that one day may have a negative effect. I have earned the love and respect of my coworkers and students over the last 4 years, and it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to move on. At this point in my life I desire a job that allows me more time dealing strictly with data analysis, creation of testing instruments/and or systems of data collection (including through customized programs) collaboration, and presentation in a user friendly manner.
