AEROSPACE SYSTEMS ENGINEER SPECIALISED IN AERODYNAMICS AND MANAGEMENT
Key competences in : systems architecture, aerodynamics, international business, scripting (MATLAB, Python, C), aeroelastics/vibration analysis, flight mechanics, languages
Eligible for US security clearance under Accord signed by Bush administration (still current) between the US and Australia
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Since Jan 2015
CFM-Boeing Integration Focal and Aerodynamic Design Engineer, SAFRAN Aircraft Engines, Paris region, France
CFM (GE – Safran JV) integration focal for Boeing for Advanced Projects, multidisciplinary team
Coordination of interfaces with Boeing and in Safran to assure optimal design through the piloting of trade studies
Installation aerodynamics design: nacelles, exhausts, inlets and performance calculations for the Advanced Projects department
Develop tools to aide in the design of the nacelles around different engine configurations
Systems Engineer for Liquid Rocket Propulsion, SAFRAN Snecma (now Airbus Safran Launchers), Vernon, France
Established 0D and 1D linear and non-linear thermodynamic system models in AMESim (in C ) for the Vinci and Vulcain rocket engines
Simulated control of valve opening sequences for correct cooling before launch
Provided support for the use of the models in the design of Ariane 6 and the validation of test firings
Assured the accuracy of the pressurisation systems and ignition system for the Vinci engine
Mar-Aug 2014
Aerodynamics Engineering, AIRBUS Operations, Toulouse, France
Evaluated the performance of the Ai-PX7 blade by CFD calculations (RANS mixing plane) using elsA; analyzed the effect of blade pitch angle and the Mach effect in 5 performance studies
Identified the sources of difference between the numerical and experimental results in using global and local parameters
Automated the CFD calculations from the creation of input files from experimental parameters, to the launch of the calculations, right up to post-processing using a combination of preexisting tools: Excel, MATLAB, VBA and bash scripts
Mar – Nov 2011
Thesis: Experimental and numerical validation of a chordwise flexible wing, The University of Sydney, Australia
Verified an new aeroelastic model of a chordwise flexible wing using FEM simulations
Designed, built and directed wind tunnel tests with a team of aeroelastic engineers at the Department of Defence in Melbourne
Post-processed the LabView experimental results, and also verified the overall sensor accuracy through the use of FEM models
Published 2 conference articles for : The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the International Council of Aeronautical Sciences
Mar – Nov 2011
University Tutor: MATLAB and Dynamics courses, The University of Sydney, Australia
Matlab: directed computer lab tutorials to teach first year engineering students (4 classes of 2 hours per week) how to script and use Matlab and Simulink. Students were required to simulate a number of cases throughout the semester for which I demonstrated best practices and approaches.
Dynamics: Introductory course for first year students into rigid-body dynamics.
Dec 2010 – Feb 2011
Aerodynamics Methods Intern, Rotary Wing Department, DSTO, Australian Department of Defence, Melbourne, Australia
Simulated a Blackhawk rotor using both FlightLab and an inhouse code based in FORTRAN 77
The study involved a comparison of the distribution of the force on the rotor and how these forces are transferred at the hub.
