SKILLS:

Research Project

Title: Compressibility Profiles of Co-processed Excipients at Different Storage Conditions.

Thesis: My research was in the formulation of tablets. It highlighted on determining that the co-processed

excipients MicroceLac® 100, StarLac® and CombiLac® absorb moisture at increased relative humidity

levels thereby decreasing the tablet mechanical strength. Over all determining the compressibility profiles.

Conducted experiments like tablet preparations using Gamlen tablet press.

Approached the study using DM3. Design of experiment was used for studying Material properties (using DSC, TGA, MSA, SEM, PXRD) and Manufacturing factors (compression speed, compression pressure, relative humidity) using Multivariate analysis as statistical tool to determine product attributes of compressibility, compactibility and tabletability. This study is under review for publication.

Instruments Used

The instruments used for my research and during my entire Master’s program are High Performance

Liquid Chromatography (Agilent), Ultra Violet spectroscopy (Agilent), Differential Scanning Calorimeter

(TA Q-200), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TA Q-500), Moisture Sorption Analyzer (TA Q-5000), Mass

Spectroscopy, Infra-Red spectroscopy (PerkinElmer), dissolution apparatus (Agilent 708-DS),

disintegration apparatus (Pharma Di-200), pH meter, particle size analyzer (Malvern), digital rheometer.

Other instruments include V-blender, rotary tablet press, tablet coating pan, encapsulator, fluid bed

granulator, comil, lyophilizer, autoclave, depyrogenation oven, Gamlen tablet press, Carver tablet press,

tablet breaking force tester (Vankel).
